ONE OF THE BETTER ONES IN THIS SERIES
I found this to be one of the better novels in this series. Other than AN OFFER FROM A GENTLEMAN (Benedict's story), I thought these novels were formulaic and trite. In the Agents of the Crown series, the dialogue and banter were witty and fun. Most of the books in this Bridgerton series were plodding and overwrought; besides being awash in family tea scenes. TO SIR PHILLIP WITH LOVE is an exception however. That was as well written as this novel; but the series of eight can be tedious to read through, so be forewarned, Reader.Gregory is the Bridgerton brother who believes in true love and the magic of love. Other reviewers have commented that his belief in spontaneous love at first sight is naive and not credible. His interest in Hermione is a case in point. He does respond to Lucy when he meets her; but she is not the lovely, winsome lass that Hermione is. No one could predict what man Hermione would ultimately choose for a husband. Lucy is so traditional and so lackluster a character at first that no one could be surprised that she would marry to save her family and not hold out for a love match. I agree that more scintillating repartee between Gregory and Lucy would have been helpful. He had more animated conversations with his Mother and sister, Hyacinth. I, for one, was relieved that he took the initiative in seducing Lucy and trying to upend her wedding ceremony as the vows were spoken. There is no question that once Gregory realizes he is in love that his character blossoms and is animated. Lucy does not ever reach that point where her love for Gregory is all-consuming. She fares better in the two epilogues than she does in the plot. The series merits a 3 ranking in my estimation with the best three earning a 4 each. If this is all one has to read on a plane flight, it is entertaining; but not Julia Quinn's best effort.

A smash bang ending for the Bridgertons! This book is like a nice, smooth car ride and then all the sudden gets pushed into overdrive and your speeding down the highway at 100mph.The first half is good. It's enjoyable, I didn't get bored or annoyed. But the second half is really exciting! Once Gregory realizes that he's in love with her, he becomes COMMITTED. And then a wrench is thrown into their love plans! How's its going to work out, is really a head scratcher! But of course, it all does :)There's only one sex scene. It's not super detailed. Now I can't wait for the Bridgerton Netflix series to come out!

My least favorite
I have loved the Bridgerton series, and this is actually my second times reading the books in order, the first time was well before the Netflix series. The crazy thing is, I do not remember seeing this book, and it is hard to believe that I could have forgotten some of the details in this book. Of all of the books, this was my least favorite by far. Had it been the first book in the series, I doubt would have read the others.

The End of the Siblings love stories
Well, this finishes off my 2020 and as you can see it’s not my favorite... I do love Gregory Bridgerton but I felt as if Quinn was out of character stories to separate all the siblings and his story really suffered for it. Lucy was great, don’t get me wrong. She was probably my third favorite heroine in this series after Kate and Penelope. The story really just suffered from the beginning with Gregory being in love with some one else and then the whole middle part wasn’t good. I was happy with the ending and someone else having all them children but it couldn’t be saved by that point. I’m glad though I finished all the books and got to see all the siblings happily married and in love!

Such a disappointment
I really like this series, but this book was such a disappointment. I couldn't really care about the main characters, and especially disliked how the "hero" keeps trying to pressure the "heroine" into doing something she feels is dishonorable - so totally not ok. And yes, I put the quotation marks on purpose because I don't think either qualified for those titled - they are just disposable main characters. I couldn't make myself do more than skin to finish the book, because I kept hoping it would improve enough to draw me back in, but it didn't. If you feel like you have to read it, get this one from the library - don't waste your money on it.

Fun, Easy Read.
I've read several of Julia Quinn's novels and they are just what you would expect from this genre. They are fun, lighthearted and give you the happy ending. I've read several reviews from other's complaining about dialogue, historical inaccuracies and generic plots but I think if you read her books with the understanding that you aren't getting Austen or Tolstoy then you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for a book to provide a historically accurate description of Regency England than I'd suggest a non-fiction. I came to Julia Quinn's work because I am a fan of Outlander and while her writing does touch on the some of the same themes they are very different. I wouldn't suggest reading Julia Quinn's work if you are looking for an Outlander replacement. But with that being said I would recommend the Bridgerton series. On the Way to the Wedding is probably my favorite of the Bridgerton series. I found that I enjoy the books that focus on the Bridgerton brothers more than the books that focus on the sisters.

Gregory Bridgerton
Gregory is the youngest of the eight Bridgerton siblings and the only unmarried one. He believes in true love - why not when all his siblings have found love-matches? So when invited to his oldest brother's houseparty he spots the incomparable Hermione Watson, he knows she's the one for him. Sadly Miss Watson doesn't seem equally smitten, so he turns to her friend Lady Lucinda Abernathy for help, not realising until it's almost too late that Lucy, with her sharp wit and sunny personality is the one for him. What a pity Lucy is already engaged and her cold-hearted uncle is not about to let her back out. What's a poor besotted gentleman to do?

Unbelievable plot line!
This was the last of the Bridgerton series and I think Julia Quinns had run out of steam with feasible ideas for her main characters. I have enjoyed all the other 7 books and found them easy lockdown reading. This one however had a less than believable plot- if you could call it a plot! The 2 main characters had little personality and I found the most interesting part was the epilogue, revealing what happened after the frantically ridiculous wedding performance. This book I'm afraid suspended belief for me and I had trouble finishing it as it was totally unbelievable towards the end. Sorry Julia not a good read.

Well...
Thank goodness this is the last book in a series which went from riveting to rubbish. I'm pushing giving this 3 stars as the story, which starts off quite promising and interesting quickly slides down to ridiculous and then goes even further down the scale to ludicrous. I will not be reading this series again.

Hard going at first but a good story
I really struggled to begin with. All the other books are so easy to read, but the first quarter of the book was pretty boring. Gregory seemed like a teenager not 25 and was acting like one. Things only got interesting once Hyacinth was back on the scene along with a real old fashioned wicked uncle. For once there was some real scandal and crime and I raced through the rest of the book. So stick with it, it does get better.

Love end to the series
I like Gregory. He is clearly a romantic, a bit iike his brother Benedict. He was bound to be seeing his 7 siblings happily married. I must admit though, after that very funny conversation between him and Hyacinth in "It's in His Kiss", I expected more of wit. Instead I wanted to shake him at the beginning of this book for being such a lovesick fool, mooning over Miss Watson when clearly Lucy was made for him. . It didn't help that at that point we were reintroduced to my favourite Bridgerton couple Anthony and Kate and I couldn't help but want to read more about them instead. Still once Gregory had realised where his heart lay I couldn't help but root for him and Lucy. The story became very exciting and this is the first time I have had to read straight through to the end because I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. All in all, very satisfactory end to the series. I will now check out the second epilogue in "The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After."
