Ruby Charm Colors Adult Coloring Art Journal: Volume I

Fabulous images - and more
Susan draws the most beautiful twirly, swirly animal designs, and in this gorgeous book you not only get 22 of those designs, you also get heaps of colouring advice, including media, colour theory, techniques and more. For each design, there is a page telling the story behind the picture which also has part of the image repeated so you can have a bit of a practice. Then there's a page with space for writing notes, testing colour combos etc. This page also has part of the main image (a different part) repeated, for yet more practice. And then there's the image itself, taking up a full page, but very usefully not going anywhere near the spine of the book, so you don't have to struggle getting your pencils right down into an awkward 'gutter'. The range of animal subjects is great.... lions, bears, wolves, sealions, birds, fish, they're all there. Some of the designs are very intricate, so you'll need sharp pencils, but others are less so, so there's something for everyone. Oh.... and there are 10 blank colour swatch charts at the back of the book, each with space for 65 colours (and more room for notes on the opposite page) so you can swatch your favourite pencils, or colour combinations. All in all, it's a fabulous book, and there's another one coming out soon. I'm so excited (and I just can't hide it - not going to get THAT earworm out of my head all day!)

Fabulous Swirly Art!
I love this book, it is great to see Susan Carlson's work printed at last. The paper in the book is thinner than some but works really well with most pencils, I have tried my Coloursoft and Polychromos and even my old starter set of non branded pencils and they all covered and blended nicely. The art style is gorgeous, fantastic swirling beasts and birds. I think the difference with this book being part art journal is lovely, it gives you test areas for your art and colour charts galore! Each plate has an introduction and this only enhances the overall feel. Cant wait for vol 2!

Great information
This is one of the very best colouring books I have seen. The information is absolutely great, I have learnt so much about colouring that I didn't know before. The illustrations are second to none. Recommend highly.

Fantastic artwork for adult colouring!
I adore these beautiful and intricately drawn images. This is Volume 1 Art Journal, there is also a Volume 2 and a Creative Art Organiser. There are well over 20 A4 size magical pages to colour, but also much, much more. Tips on colouring techniques, advice about paper and pencil supplies and inspirational information. Opposite each large picture is a page for note-taking and practice. Scattered throughout the book are smaller beautifully drawn images where you can try out your techniques and there are also blank colour charts for you to complete. This is a very personal art book. the artist tells you her own inspirations for the drawings. It is beautifully executed and has been thoughtfully planned. If you are on Facebook you could join the fun and friendly group there: Ruby Charm Colors Community. You will be amazed by the fabulous colourings!

Best colouring experience
I love this art journal it's so different from anything I've had before, it is a more challenging experience and just reading the beginning of the journal is really informative. In fact I have just purchased Volume 2 by the same artist.
