Worth every asking price! Lots to learn about Kimonos and why they are soo beautiful! The author also share his passion of why he collects Kimonos in the first place! Which make it even more enjoyable! The color combo is great as well. Feast for the eyes!

A less know Japanese art. I love it - the combination of colors, the unbalanced features of the artwork. If you love Japanese art, you will love this book.

Gave this book as a Christmas present. The recipient loved it.

This is the kind of book that, if you are an artist, you want to own. It has excellent examples of handcraft art that are very hard to find when you are looking for them. I used it to imagine the gradations in a two-dimensional flower to make it three-dimensional. Exquisite.

A really beautiful book that outlines the subtleties of kimono colours, and with really nice colour photography. The format is slightly odd - tall and narrow.

Kimono and the Colors of Japan Teil 2. Dieser Band befaßt sich weniger mit den Farben als vielmehr mit den Motiven typisch für Sommerkimono. Dabei werden jedoch nicht die vielseits beliebten Yukata behandelt, sondern mehr oder weniger formelle Kimono aus leichten Seidenstoffen angesprochen. Die Texte, wieder in sowohl japanischer als auch englischer Sprache, geben Hinweise über Symbolik und Material. Daher ist "Summer Kimono and the Colors of Japan" informativer als sein Vorgänger.Das Buch selbst kommt in der gleichen wunderbaren Qualität wie schon "Kimono and the Colors of Japan", als Taschenbuch im Schutzumschlag mit Seiten aus dickem Glanzpapier und schönen Fotos.Für mich wieder ein schönes Fotobuch zum Reinschauen und Liebhaben. Da ich mich für die Symbolik von Motiven interessiere, ist es für mich zusätzlich auch informativ. Tiefgründiges Wissen vermittelt aber auch dieser Band nicht.

Just Beautiful! Love it!

観ていて飽きない美しい着物が、自宅にやってきた！そんな気分にさせてくれる一冊。昔からある夏の風物詩に合わせて、昔の人は、心の底から着物を楽しんでいた様子をその当時の時代背景なども織り交ぜ書かれています。美しい着物ばかりで、ため息が出ます。一番私が惹かれたのは、英語で説明が書かれているところ。着物好きの私は、よく友人達から着物について聞かれるのですが、なかなか上手く紹介することが出来ませんでした。昔からの風習などと一緒に外国のお友達にも説明が出来るので、これから活躍しそうな一冊です。残念なのは、本のサイズ。大きさが中途半端。見開きで眺めるには少し小さいし、かといって小さすぎては柄などが見えないし･･･。もっと大きいサイズにして欲しかったです。

見ているだけで、幸せな気持ちになります。日本文化が凝縮されたような本！きものに興味がなくても楽しめる。
