Committment and Fortitude Required
I've been doing research on cleansing and detox programs for a few years now. My husband and I were going to try The Master Cleanse and I even purchased the materials, but never did it. Then, a friend recently did a detox and I also read where Meredith Vieira (co-anchor on NBC's Today show) was doing one... AND then just last week I got laid off from my job (totally unexpected). The stars were aligned and I decided it was the best time to start a detox... so I decided on The Detox Box. I selected it since I had heard (and read) a number of good things about it (it was the one that my friend was doing). My husband was traveling during week #1 of the detox, which was very helpful (he's a processed food lover and having him around would have made that first week very hard). So far, I've made it through the first week (not without a few pitfalls - I needed to do the yoga consistently and move around more but will do that in week #2... we were also invited to our friends' resort vacation home toward the end of week #1, and it's been tricky to follow the meal plan, when everyone around you is encouraging you to drink wine and eat non-listed foods with them!). Still, I feel very calm, not a bit anxious (job? schmob!); my circulation is outstanding (my hands and fingertips are actually WARM again), my skin is positively RADIANT and I don't miss the caffeine (I was drinking alot of it and went cold-turkey, though TDB recommends a "before" phase where you gradually wean yourself down. So far, I haven't had any major headaches). I plan to continue the program for another week (or two) since I'm in a groove now (despite the pitfalls) and know I can refine my commitment for the remaining weeks. While I agree with some of the other reviewers that the ingredients can be expensive, I also agree it's a small price to pay to significantly improve your health - both body AND mind. I'm sure I would pay significantly more if I visited a spa or consulted with a naturopath. You can easily do this program on your own. Even though the individual flashcards seem like an awkward way to present the material (why not put it in a bound book that can be indexed and then referenced?) I still HIGHLY recommend this program.

Review of the Detox Box
Mark Hymens publication the Detox Box is not exclusively about far infra red saunas, although these are reccomended.Rather it is an integrated 3 week detoxification package contained within a 16cm square box which consists of 2 questionares to allow assessment before starting, a 64 page book, 2 CD's and 70 sumary flash cards which are used before, during and after the program. Many chronic diseases with poor health can be tackled by improving the body's detoxification. The step by step processes are designed to eliminate toxins and heal and restore the body with good sleep and reduced stress. The two questionaires are to be completed before starting to help identification of symptons of toxicity (good, mild, moderate or severe)and our present overall risk before starting the 3 week program (low, minimum, significant and medical supervision required to undertake the program). The book explains the detoxification program, why it is needed and how it is to be carried out.The first compact disk explains the program which is aimed at evaluating our present health, improving what we eat including avoiding processed foods and trans fats, breaking down stored toxins within the body and eliminating them. It includes the use of supliments, exercise and heat therapy. Aerobic exercise and yoga are outlined for better oxygenation of the blood, improved lympathetic system and sweating of toxins. The second CD contains verbal instructions for Yoga postures and exercise to achieve fuller breathing and to balance the nervous system and calm the mind. The aim is purification of the mind, body and spirit. Thirty two of the flash cards show pictures of diferent Yoga postures which aid the verbal instructions on the CD.To summarise this is a fully integrated program aimed at optimising our body's health to allow healing and restoration. It includes what to avoid and how to rejuvenate the body. By incorporating so much knowledge and techniques the effectiveness in regaining health is maximised.

Hard to stay on program
This might work for others but it was too complicated and hard for us to follow. Nice looking box and cards.

Review
As of this writing, I have received and looked over the Detox Box materials, but have not implemented them as yet. I am reading Dr. Hyman's book UltraMetablolism as a foundation for the use of this Detox Box.So far, I think the materials appear to be soundly based. I think it will represent a committment to change and health that is needed in my case. A couple of my friends are pursuing similar changes in their lives and the ones ahead of me seem to be doing well and are reporting good results. I'm looking forward to giving this a try.

Love it, modified it
I started this program with the intent of losing weight and changing my eating habits. I have really enjoyed it. I did the first 10 days exactly as told and added 20 minutes of exercise a day. I went off of the program for two months and although I slide back into my bad eating habits I only gained 1 pound back. I decided that I really did want to change eating habits and started the program again, however I modified it alittle bit: I follow the program as outline until dinner. At dinner I just eat a sensible dinner and I avoid sugar and deep-fried stuff (the major modifications that I want to make in my diet for life). I also am exercising for 45 minutes a day. I am on day 8 of this modified version and I have found that with the original way I lost about 1.25 lbs a day. With my modified version I am losing about .75 pounds a day- but I am eating my dinner how I want to eat in the future so I hope that I am able to form good habits.I feel great. I haven't had this much energy since I was 50 lbs. lighter.

Gimicky
So, I bought it. There's not much in it and I think I would have been better off to put my money toward something else. Dr. Hyman seems to recycle his theories in new books and products. If you've read The Blood Sugar Solution, you know everything in his other books.

Did the cleanse for a week and felt great. I was tempted by a cookie on day 7 and after a few bites, my stomach hurt. It took about a month to get used to eating like I did before.Going cold turkey was really tough the first couple of days but after a week, you will feel pretty great.I would recommend doing this cleanse every few months but much easier said than done.
