Good to have
Ahh, Adele Margolis. I got rid of this book a number of years ago, when I thought I wasn't going to be able to sew anymore due to rheumetoid arthritis. Thankfully, that was an inaccurate diagnosis and I'm sewing again! With Margolis' Book of Tailoring back on my shelf! That makes me a happy sewer.

Home sewer teaching myself tailoring.
If you are a home sewer and want to progress to the next level: tailoring, you need this book in your library. The point is made: why sew T-shirts when you can buy them so cheaply -- it's not worth it. But a jacket is TOTALLY worth sewing. I copied an $1800 jacket for $50. I'm not saying my workmanship was as good, but I'M sure happy with it.

A bible for tailoring and sewing
I have been a student of Adele Margolis and have used the "Complete Book of Tailoring" with every garment That I have made. It is a fabulous reference for even the most proficient sewer and designer of fashion for technique. She discusses the do's and don't's in the use of fabrics, styles, and methods in the construction of a garment from inside out, whether it be short cuts or intricate methods. This book is a wonderful text for novice tailoring but with some background in sewing. A must for the serious sewer. I miss her classes but use her books constantly: they are falling apart! Minda G.
