If it’s cast iron , your search is over !!
This rod has been my favorite goto for welding cast iron and dissimilar metals . It’s a very easy rod to work. Very slow too . I ran 100amps dc straight polarity and I was fortunate to have a great welded repair to a $3125 quad piston brake plate. Very glad that 1/2 rod was very successful, of course proper techniques and preheating to 350 F before during and after the welds . I ran 1” long welds and peened it while it was cooling. Very calm and controllable weld puddle and bead . Patience is everything here .Follow your procedure keep areas clean and good luck 👍🏻

They weld smooth and good
I have used about 2/3rds of the rods now, and they weld really nice. I have welded welded several different things, including a cracked engine block, and with the appropriate prep work to the workpiece, then the welds came out looking really nice and lasted good so far.

Works exactly as it should.
Ran out of Nickel rod in the middle of repairing a cast iron vise I had broken. I understood the process and prepped all the cast iron parts properly. I was able to properly preheat the piece to just over 300 deg. Tacked and did my root pass not realizing how much rod I would need. I only had 3 sticks left. Yes, after rot pass, jumping around with 1" beads, I cooled slowly in dry sand. I had enough for my root pass, but needed more quickly. Local store didn't have any. Amazon prime to the rescue. This worked very well. You need this material to properly weld cast iron. Otherwise, don't even try. Key things are slow preheat to just over 300 deg. 1-2" beads jumping around to control hot spots, then a slow cool down in DRY sand.

Good rods!
I used these to SMAW weld a cracked exhause manifold and they worked really good. I had some rod left, so I wanted to try welding cast iron with my Plasma welder. I chipped the flux off the rod so it was bare nickel and it worked really good to weld up the cast iron. I broke the handle in half and welded it back, picture enclosed. The flux interferes with the Plasma, so it needs to be removed.

Weldcoat Nickel 99 is fresh rod that performs as advertised.
I found the Weldcoat Nickel 99 to be fresh rod and packaged in a heave sealed tube. I used it to weld a large fracture in heavy gray cast iron I preheated to 450 degrees. The Nickel 99 was easy to strike and the weld puddle was easily controlled with minimal splatter. This was accomplished using an AC Lincoln buzz box. The cast iron part is back in service and holding well.

Review is about the shipping
Rods are fine but they were shipped in a Manila envelope with a diamond art canvas. The canvas was cut and the welding rod container cap was crushed and the tops of the rods were busted. So my review is more about the poor shipping of the items.
