This is amazing! I don't know what I was thinking trying to do quilting and general sewing projects without this tool set! It makes cutting angles a breeze, straight lines are actually straight (and square!), and everything is so fast, plus I'm not blowing through marking pencils. Using the ruler with ease took a bit of practice, but I had plenty of projects to try it out on, and the first couple times I used the rotary blade I skewed away from the ruler, leaving a curve instead of a straight cut. With practice I mastered it, and found holding the tool blade-side against the ruler worked better than handle-side towards the ruler. If you plan on doing a lot of sewing and quilting you must get this set. It will save so much time and headaches.

Just received. The mat is double-sided (gray on one side, white on the other), with measurement lines on both sides. Rotary cutter worked great on thin suede pieces. No marks on the cutting mat. I hope I can change the blade with a titanium one later. I think that pressing down too hard with the cutter may accelerate damage to the mat, so I'll only use a sharp blade. The ruler is great. Measuring and cutting the fabric was the most tedious part of my sewing projects, but this cutting set removes the tedium! Thanks to Fiskars. A sturdy, well-thought out cutting set.Update September 2, 2017: Just used the set to cut very thick leather with layers of suede backing (from an old leather purse I'm recycling). I had to run the blade over the material several times, but no problems.Update January 21, 2018: Used the set to separate the pages of a thick book, so that I can comb-bind the book. Worked perfectly! I thought I might damage the blade because the book is so thick, and I had to cut through the spine, but no problems! The mat was indispensable.

So, for years I have made a baby quilt every time there was a new little one in the family. I do fairly simple designs but always try to tell a story. I always cut guides from card board to measure shapes and cut them with scissors. As you may imagine it took considerable time. I saw one of these cutting systems in a fabric store but the price was up there. I've recently been ordering from amazon, we live in the middle of national forest and the nearest stop light is 70 miles away. So shopping is a day trip. Anyhow, I decided that this might really help me and the price was much better on amazon. I was willing to take a chance, I ordered it and made a quilt for my new grand baby that is arriving in May. The design I used needed very exacting cuts, I expected it to take me a month just to get the top done let alone put it together. Start to finish it took me 5 days, about 25 hours. Being that I'm self taught I imagine others could have done it faster but I was very please with the quality I could turn out because of my more exact cuts. It made it much easier on my back as well, not as many hours spent bent over to cut. Then I had intended to store it flat in it's box under my bed, but my husband accidentally took the whole thing to the dump, I liked it so much I ordered it again. So truly it was worth twice the price to me.

This is a great board. As you can see, the packaging was phenomenal. You can tell they took great care to the packaging. The cutter is very precise as well and leaves no marks on the board (which was my fear). Ive used it to cut through different types of fabrics (fleece, cotton, and jersey) and has made very straight and sharp cuts. I have used all the pieces and have no complaints.

This is a good rotary set for anyone starting out sewing, or if its not going to be used often. You cant beat the price. I used mine almost on a daily basis and multiples times each day. Fabric shifts under the ruler or on the mat, and the side of the mat i use the most has cut marks in it. Now that i am more familiar with cutting, though, i am getting a better(hopefully) and bigger nonslip mat (us art supply), nonslip ruler(omnigrip) and more ergonomic rotary cutter (olfa)

Ordered this set to help make masks for my family and friends during the civid virus outbreak. Self healing board is amazing and the clear ruler makes it easy to see the fabric underneath. And the rotary cutter is the best ever! So glad I bought this set!

Bought this as my first rotary cutting set and I love it. It's very easy to use (although I'll admit it took me about 30 seconds to figure out you had to push the lever on the rotary down to expose the blades) and sharp too. I got sloppy towards the end of my first sewing project because I was tired and went to hand cut a piece of fabric with the rotary. I firmly pushed down on the rotary against the fabric and slide it up... right into the palm of my left hand. Yep, there was a sharp pain followed by me saying "please don't bleed, please don't bleed, please don't bleed" then blood streamed out. So if you wondered if the blades were sharp, then yes. Yes they are, haha.

In an effort to save money, I opted to order this set instead of the individual pieces of another brand that were reccommended by my fave quilting blogger, thinking "how much difference could there be?" While the mat is fine, the ruler is NOT intended for quitling (perhaps its for paper cutting) and is a pain to read. And you would be better of using a steak knife to cut your fabric than this thing. In the end, I bought an Olfa cutter and ruler, which I should have done from the get go. Spend a little extra and make the investment in a good cutter and ruler, you will not regret it. Two stars because the mat is okay.

Although I’ve been sewing for 42 of my 46 years, I’ve only recently begun to make quilts. Knowing the importance of precision, I was terrified to cut the pieces! I saw this set and bought it, and I highly encourage you to do the same!The board is big but surprisingly solid, the cutting guide ruler is ideal for the board and the rotary blade tool is the best I’ve ever used. It comes with a handy little safety switch but unlike the rotary blade tools I’ve bought, you don’t have to hold the inner handle or apply any grip to expose the blade. Just a little click and the safety flips back into the handle; easily done with a thumb.The board and guide ruler are covered in measurements for inches and 30, 45 and 90 degree angles. Centimetres are marked out in little dots. Both sides of the board are marked and have awesome little squares marked out in 6 different sizes to check your quilting blocks, from 4 to 12 inches.The board is self healing and I tend to be heavy handed but there’s not a mark on it.I’m very happy with this purchase!

This rotary cutting set is pretty good for the price. The fact that it's dual sided and self-repairing makes this an expensive BUT long-lasting purchase. It works great for cutting fabric, and I use it for that specific reason, however, I also use the mat just to protect the top of my desk or counters when I'm using my X-acto knife for arts and crafts with my kids. I'm not the greatest at cutting ANYTHING with scissors. Everything always ends up all crooked and looks like it was cut by a 2 years old. This has been a life saver. Look MA ! Pour :La qualité du plastique des règles est exeptionnelle.Le tapis et le cutter rotatifs sont parfaits!Contre :1) Les règles sont beaucoup trop glissantes. J'ai dû acheter des "non slip adhesive glass rings" car je ratais beaucoup de coupes.2) C'est vraiment très difficile à lire, le contour blanc autour des marquages ne sert à rien, les lignes noires étant très visibles même sur des tissus noirs avec un bon éclairage. Tout ce blanc cache beaucoup, vient "encombrer", ,surcharger et rend la lecture confuse. Difficile de faire des coupes précises.Je recommanderais plutôt les règles de la marque Olfa, elles ont un dessous givrés (anti-dérapant) et les marquages sont beaucoup plus sobres.

El cutter giratorio está bastante afilado así que hay que tener cuidado a la hora de utilizarlo. El tablero es de muy buen tamaño y funciona perfecto con el cutter giratorio o con algún otro objeto afilado o como superficie para trabajar. La regla es grande también y que sea transparente lo hace todo más fácil.Lo único malo es que viene en pulgadas. Ni la regla ni el tablero traen conversión en centímetros, por lo que si te da flojera hacer conversiones, este set no es para ti.

Excellent, excellent value for the price.I tested the rotary cutter on a bedsheet folded over a number of times, and it cut through 16 layers in a single pass - I was pleasantly (and very) surprised. The healing mat held up excellently, no visible cut lines so far, and the material feels extremely sturdy. I don’t think it would be easy for the mat to buckle/bend (though I will continue to store it flat, just in case).The ruler does its job and is nothing special, I don’t agree with the criticism about it not being precise. The design is such that thin blacklines are hugged by a white border; for precise measurement, just look at the black lines.
