Soft metal, okay to use for light duty application
I was installing rigid foam insulation against the basement foundation wall in my house. Per the recommendation of the insulation manufacturer, I used foam adhesive and 6 of these masonry anchors with each 4x8 foam board. The good part:1. Cheap...compared to the more well known brands at big box stores.2. Adequate holding strength.3. Come with a drill bit (more on that later). The bad stuff:1. The metal is soft. When driving the screw into concrete, the head trips off easily when using a impact driver.2. The supplied drill bit was too short. when attached to the drill, it was about 1" shorter than the screws and with masonry, the pilot hole needs to be slightly deeper than the screw, so that the dust has room to push into the hole. As a result, I had to use the Bosch 5" long bits.3. The screws come with a 5/32 bit, so I first started with a Bosch 5/32 bit to drill pilot holes. The screws get jammed and do not go all the way in when using an impact driver. I had to use the next bigger bit I had (3/16 in this case) to be able to drive these screws in. I wouldn't have done this if the screw had to support something heavy, but for something as light as foam board, it was okay. For heavy duty support, I would look at other brands. But no matter which brand you buy, its pretty much a given that you'll have to use throw away the supplied drill bit as they are usually junk.

Really good for the price
Really good for the price. A couple screws had coating material in the philips head so they were useless. Also, the drill bit that comes with them bent in half, literally 90 degrees, after it heated up. Buy a better one. For the price, with a good bit, they hold up really well.

These are junk
Absolute garbage. I ended up going to the local hardware store and buying TapCon screws instead and they worked much better. These would strip out either at the head or on the shaft. Not worth the headache.

Solid Anchors...Includes Carbide Bit...
Absolutely great anchors for the price and they also include the proper size carbide bit for the screws. They may not have quite the holding power of Tapcons since the threads are not as pronounced, but for my use they are just fine. I can't budge them loose with a crow bar so that's good enough for me.They are also corrosion resistant plated which is good for use when anchoring treated lumber. Overall a fine anchor screw that I'm quite happy with.kd
