Founded in Sydney, in 1932 by Jacob Bloch, Bloch is a pioneer in the technical dance market. Since its inception, the renowned footwear brand has produced handmade pointe shoes for esteemed ballet dancers worldwide. Bloch recently entered an exciting new period of innovation and fashion design with the creation of mainstream footwear, following the demands by current customers to create street-ready shoes. All size guidelines are based on a medium width foot. A wide foot would require an additional half size up from the recommended size.

LOVE! And some answers to questions you didn't know you needed to ask.
I've been a dance instructor/studio owner since 1993. I've been wearing these for years and I love them! They fit perfectly the way I want them to fit. I like my dance shoes tight out of the box because, if they are of any quality, they will stretch to fit my foot which is EXACTLY what I want. I can go a couple of classes with some discomfort until they break in, but with these it's very minimal. The upper molds to my foot like a glove after just a few classes. Every part of the shoe that touches your skin is padded in some way. The neoprene keeps them from stretching permanently to be too long. The last thing I want in a dance shoe is extra space: this is where sliding around in them can cause blistering and extra material at the toe can get in the way and trip me (believe me, I don't need help tripping!). The darts accent the arch so beautifully! Even my dancers whose point isn't as strong have pretty feet in these. So answering some questions that have been asked:What size should I buy?Do you like your dance shoes to fit snug or loose and what do you wear them for? I like a tight fit so I wear an 8.5 in athletic shoes and buy these in 8.5. I'm actually a 9 in dress shoes, heels, or boots, but these jazz shoes eventually mold to my foot so the 8.5 is perfect and allows for some eventual give to my wide feet (at the metatarsals). At that size my toes hit the end of the shoe which is what I personally want. If you like room and you (or your child) is taking maybe 2 recreational classes a week then you could probably just stick with the usual street shoe size. If you (or your child) is competing and taking several hours of classes per week, it would be best to talk to the instructor about what they prefer. How long do these last?Again, it depends on what you need them for. My senior competition team (around 10-12 competitions per year) can go through a few pair per dance season. That's normal with ANY dance shoe that takes heavy wear. However, my recreational classes can make it the entire year without having to buy a second pair unless they just outgrow them. They do have a more sturdy pad on the ball of the foot than other jazz shoes which is the place I find that most other shoes fail first. With these it's usually the big toe busting through the top but by then we've gotten more than enough wear from them.Do they have a lot of support? No, but that's not what dance shoes are for. Dancers need strong feet and too much support can keep them from developing that strength. Think of jazz shoes as a good second protective skin. They aren't street shoes and are meant for wear only on dance surfaces. So they can't be compared easily to street shoes in that way. There isn't a perfect one-size-fits-all for styles and brands of dance shoes. You just have to find the right one for your foot and the way in which you dance. But I find that these tick a lot of boxes for our students and are DEFINITELY my go-to jazz shoe!

Two Thumbs Up From A Dancer With 14 Years Of Experience!
NOTE: This review has been dictated to me by my soon to be 17 year old daughter, who has been dancing since she was 3 years old and swears by Bloch dance shoes. She has been wearing these for just over 3 months since purchase. For most of her dance life, she has worn Bloch and believes they make the BEST dance shoe and will not wear anything else. We purchased a 1/2 size larger, like she always has in dance shoes, compared to tennis shoe size. She says these dance shoes are very comfortable just like all her prior Bloch dance shoes and that these are actual Bloch and not some knock-offs. No issues with the toe box or arch support and they fit just like all her prior Bloch dance shoes. Another thing she would like to point out is that these dance shoes allow very smooth turns and excellent stability. Two thumbs up from a seasoned dancer with 14 years of experience. Remember, shoes are kind of like car tires, you want the best between your person and the ground!

Jazz shoe with all-in-one style and comfort
I wear an 8.5m to a 9m street shoe. I ordered a 9 in these shoes, as the last Bloch jazz shoes (different model, and in a size 8.5) I ordered were too small. The fit with this specific model was perfect and comfortable. I have a high arch that cramps easily, and these shoes supported my arch very well. I was very comfortable in these jazz shoes, and liked how different they looked. I was the only one in our cast to have the Pulse shoes. I used them in CATS, and for Jekyll and Hyde (until I had to switch to heels). I will be comfortable in future shows in these very soft, very flexible yet supportive jazz shoes. If your feet are in between sizes, considering going up in size. That worked great for me.

Decent shoes considering the price.
I have been wearing them often over the last two months, and they have already started to wear out on the top of the toe as they just fit. They have also started to come apart a tiny bit at one of the seams. Additionally they kind of come to a little bit of an angle near the big toe, making it look a little like I am perpetually pigeon-toed.I do find them to become uncomfortable after a few hours as the heel portion feels like it's digging into the bottom of my foot a bit, though I am rather flat-footed and have somewhere between and medium and wide foot.Overall the shoes aren't bad for the price, but I probably wouldn't repurchase them.

Even smaller than predicted
I like the quality and feel of these shoes but although I ordered a full size above my normal, they were way too short and it felt like my big toe would break through very quickly. They were easily returned.

Fit is perfect, Unfortunately there is a small stitching hole at bottom upon opening package
The fit feels excellent - snug and supportive feeling - My feet are size 9, borderline narrow but I wear regular shoes typically. I ordered size 9 M and I feel it's the perfect fit. Unfortunately the stitching at the bottom was not secure so this pair has a small stitching hole at the bottom - so that's a disappointing hassle and too bad they aren't stitched better as they are a fair price! So that affects my rating - Hopefully these have some longevity once I start using and performing in them. Otherwise I love them.

Daughter loves them
Daughter loves them. Ordered rougly a half a size larger than her shoe size. She takes a 6.5-7 in women's and we ordered a 7.5.
