A Short Walk from Harrods: A Memoir

Bogarde fans: don't miss
Really very good. This final installment of Bogarde's autobiography is more about his life in France than that of his return to London but this is what I was looking for.

It was OK. I couldn't get through it before moving on to something else.

A gentle and beautiful read
Beautifully written, bringing to life a small rural community in France, the tending of the house, garden and vineyard. Made me wish I had known Dirk and lived a similar life. In a parralel universe perhaps.

A delight to read
I have read nearly all of dirk bogardes books and have enjoyed them all. I can't say the same for his acting but as a writer he was pure magic to read. I felt as though he was speaking to me personally and I think most of his readers felt the same. I was pleased to read from John cold streams book that his ashes were scattered on his pond that he built himself on his beautiful French chateau.

Revelatory.
Wonderfully touching insight into the final years Bogarde spent in his beloved France, before the dramatic move back to London.
