Best defense against toddler terror
My toddler is a tank and enjoys destroying my house. I now have these on my oven, kitchen cabinets, fridge, microwave, on drawers, etc. He can no longer get into the fridge and paint the living room with chocolate syrup while I'm swapping a load in the laundry room. Yes, I put one of these on my dryer, too.Either end of the mechanism can unlock and is not difficult. Even older kids could unlock it, whereas the little ones still won't "get it". They can go on most flat surfaces and will stay there. Plan exactly where you want them before applying, because they can't be moved. The sticky part is a one-time use kind of thing and will stick immediately (though let it dry and settle before yanking on it). The sticky part has a hard plastic sheet you will want to align carefully or the grey block part that comes off may be off-center and look a little sloppy. You can apply the ends around corners to lock drawers and appliances, or in the case of cabinets that swing out in pairs, I put one above the handles so that the two are locked shut. I could see these working well on actual doors, toilets, etc. I personally wouldn't put them on anything with a coat of paint or a finish, as removing the item may damage the surface. With some delicate peeling, the stick cushion underneath can be removed from most surfaces without damage, and the remaining sticky residue can be cleaned off easily. These are still an option for renters, at least on most surfaces.I have never run into a single issue with these items and use many of them. They're only plastic, but surprisingly strong. My toddler is over 3 feet and 37 pounds, and his rages still can't open the fridge. I highly recommend these to all parents.

Sturdy, reliable!
I actually got these to keep my cat out of the cereal cupboard in my new home 5 years ago. Yes, that strap is 5 years old and not going anywhere, and you can see the wear and tear from me using the latch for a solid 5 years. I needed more locks for other cupboards because miss kitty just can't resist temptation and nothing else compared to these and was desperate to remember these. I stumbled upon them the other day and never jumped so much for joy. The ease, quality, value, and strength of adhesive are unbeatable. I pray they never stop selling these because these just work so well with my chemistry LOL. I can't comment on ease of removal because as I stated, that lock is 5 years in. However I do recommend heating up adhesive with a blow dryer for a solid few minutes to remove and using alcohol to remove reside if surface permits. If I have to remove when I paint my cupboards, I'll either buy another few sets or reattach the straps with another adhesive because I can't do without these. The lock is superior to all the others I've tried, and I have a basket full of duds I've kept just in case. Buy these. I'm so glad to see the product is unchanged after 5 years because most companies "cheap" out on revamping products. Not this one.

Works well for my 18 month olds! *EDITED*
I purchased these to keep my exploring 18 month old twins out of our entertainment center. We have two glass doors they just loved to open. Applying them was easy, but unfortunately one of my girls tugged on the strap before it was really set and ripped the back latch (the one we don't use) off the wood. It wouldn't stick now so I just pulled out some of my extra command strips and stuck it down. It's mostly out of sight so we don't see the tabs and it works great! The locks are pretty large and unsightly, but they get the job done and they can't figure it out (yet). I'm sure by 3 or so they'll discover they just have to push the buttons and boom! Access to whatever. But they are excellent for now.It would be nice if they supplied extra adhesive just in case (or for reuse). It'd also be nice if they made them in a black, and a brushed and polished silver color too, just to make them look slightly nicer. They accomplish what I wanted at an excellent price, would recommend!Edit: September 7, 2013:My daughters are now over two years old and still cannot get into these. I put them on all cabinets in our kitchen now as well. If I leave one off on accident they try to put it back on but can't. They have very small hand and not much strength in them so I have confidence that these will last for a long time. You really have to push the side buttons and pull it off, my daughters can't do this.To apply the ones in my kitchen I removed the adhesive provided on the lock all together and stuck it on with command strips instead to save the cabinets in our rental house. My daughters pull and pull on them and even using command strips instead of the provided adhesive they haven't been able to pull them off. Still love them!EDIT FEBRUARY 29, 2016:My daughters are now 4.5 years olds and just finally discovered how to undo these locks. Luckily we don't much need them anymore, so I removed them all. I highly recommend these locks over any other type for keeping small children out of drawers, cabinets, fridges, dishwashers, etc etc. They worked excellently for us for a little over 3 years!

Great Childproof Lock for Fridge
My son is about to turn three and heâs been getting into our French door fridge lately. We wanted to put a stop to it rather quickly so I looked around for a while for a childproof lock before I landed on this one. These things are sturdy! They have a really nice and strong adhesive on the bottom. Once theyâre on and locked in place they are really keeping anyone out who cannot control the lock. The lock is really nice because it only takes two fingers and itâs very quick. You need to have more strength in your hands/fingers than a toddler and youâre in the clear.Great product. I will be purchasing more of these for other places around my home.Hope this helps someone!
