These column toppers are made of foam. Recent wind in upstate New York caused the cap to blow off our column at the roadfront. Upon our return from vacation, we found it had blown into the road and had been run over. Found many pieces in the road ditch. We ordered a replacement piece and rcvd it right away. Unfortunately it wasn't the same color as the original and didn't match, but fortunately we ordered the paint kit with the original purchase so were able to paint the buff cover to match our other column. Very happy all the way around. P.S. Husband did screw the covers on this time to prevent this from happening again.
