Little Giant Hanging Poultry Feeder 3lb

Several washers and a spring are missing. The plastic is very thin, I doubt it will last long. Very poor quality control. Little Giant had better get on the ball.

I purchased two of these about six months for some chicks I was raising. Now I have 12 large active laying hens who like to tip over and/or poop in any container in their pen (typical chickens). I still use these as feeders. The hanger works fairly well for hens if you suspend it several inches above the ground. I set mine on some paving bricks and use the hanger, with a little string, to make them tip proof. Less spill and waste than some other hen feeders. I put them in different locations so that less crowding and pushing happens.

I only gave it a 3 star because it was too small. The feeder looked good in the pic and the dimensions were correct according to my old one. But when I received the feeder it was too small. I checked the dimensions and it turns out they gave the diameter of the base instead of the body. I don't know why. But I sent it back and got a full refund. That made me happy. This feeder looks like it would be good for baby chicks but not 4 full grown ones. Its hard to determine the size of an item from just a pic.

The feeder has a small screw on the bottom that is easy to lose, and it is a size you can't find at home depot. I used a wire nut as a replacement and it works, but it would be better if it were a wing nut or a bigger size that was easier to not lose.

I have four chickens, and this feeder holds enough food to last them a week. the metal hook screws into the base, which is a lightweight plastic. It is a lightweight plastic, and I think it will last a year or so. I was looking for something to get me by when on vacation, and this worked perfectly.I am happy with the product considering it had a low price. I would recommend this product for someone who is on a budget, does not have many chickens, and needs something for a small space.

I purchased the Miller Hanging Plastic Feeder - PHF3 - from Miller Manufacturing to feed my private flock of birds in my backyard, at least those who will eat my sunflower seed and give me the little bit of enjoyment life will provide in the days of retirement and nothing better to do. Really, there is nothing better to do than use an easy to fill feeder to bring the winged ones around to enjoy. Give it a try with this Miller Feeder as it is easy for the birds to perch on and feed. I use a domed cover over it to shed rain and squirrels. Works for me and it should last almost forever. The sun will determine this I am sure.

Turn out to be little smaller than I imagine. Works great!
