However, if mushrooms had to be eaten without rehydration, then chanterelles would be the best choice of all mushrooms for that purpose.Like all edible mushrooms, chanterelles offer substantial health benefits.Chanterelles are not one of the best-selling mushrooms. Very few dealers sell chanterelles at Amazon.Chanterelles are much more expensive than shiitakes:Dried chanterelles can be purchased for about $50 per pound.[I purchased 1 ounce of this product for $4.57 plus shipping from Amazon. Although they lacked the mildly peppery taste which is very common with chanterelles, there was nothing wrong with the quality of the chanterelles that I received].Conclusion:Chanterelles are an excellent choice for wealthy people who want to experience eating a wide variety of mushrooms, all of which have different, extremely beneficial mycochemicals.However, shiitakes are a much better choice for the vast majority of people because of their low cost, extremely delicious taste, and powerful health benefits.

I have used almost this whole bag, because I love them mixed with eggs and onions...they are delicious....But they have a lot lot of sand and need to be cleaned many times before use... Even then there is some grit...Too bad for such good mushrooms...

At home, chanterelles (Pfifferlinge) are a dime a dozen, but in the US they’re significantly harder to find.Dried chanterelles are easy to store (compared to fresh ones), just rehydrate if you want to use them as actual mushrooms.Having been dried, the flavor isn’t quite on par with fresh ones, but close enough. (Certainly better than not having any.)The picture shows the package as received and 4 oz is a good size. Naturally dried chanterelles are somewhat brittle and that can be easily seen from the loose “debris” in the bag from handling.Overall, these were the best price I could find and they serve my needs (for adding to gravy etc.), so it’s fine for me.

These mushrooms hydrate beautifully and have the wonderful texture and flavor that chanterelle mushrooms should have. They have a firm, beefy texture, and are wonderfully savory. I love to use them in a stew with rosemary, thyme, red wine, and hearty vegetables like potatoes and carrots. They also work great in risotto with fresh herbs and sundried tomatoes. I am very satisfied with these dried mushrooms, and I will re-purchase when I run out.

I've ordered these mushrooms several times over the past 6 months. I liked them fine enough, until my most recent order: the pieces were very small, there were pine needles in the bag, and I found a small white animal hair when cleaning them for a meal. Also, they didn't smell or taste quite right. I'm returning them for a refund. I decided to try a new company altogether, Marx Foods. WOW, what a difference. So much better. Taste; size; the way they reconstitute; night and day. So I won't be going back to Life Gourmet's products.

Exactly what I expected them to be. Of course, they don't compare to fresh chanterelles, which I seldom can find. The dried ones are pretty good in a bread dressing.
