Great book and my daughter loved it!!

What a fantastic book for girls! I wish I would have read this book when I was a girl, even a teenager. Pre-teens and teen-aged girls have self-esteem issues and they feel awkward and sometimes not important. I know because I was a girl who was not that confident and didn't necessarily feel important or comfortable in my own skin. Ashley Rice helps girls realize their potential, and that potential with a capital P! The author doesn't concentrate on the frilly things, like being skinny, wearing the most fashionable clothes or being popular. She teaches the subtle message of being wonderful no matter who you are or what talents you want to focus on. It's being the confident girl, no matter what; just keep a positive attitude and keep going. The author's colorful whimsical artwork is precious and even reading it as an adult, I felt that Ashley Rice was my best friend, cheering me on. The book cleverly includes a mini-charm (Girl Power) and a tear-out bookmark. I would highly recommend this book!

My 9 year-old said the book was sort of "cheesy," but I think she actually did read it. Perhaps it's a tad bit better for girls a little younger. It's simply and sweetly written, containing wonderful, important messages in it about how girls can be courageous, authentic and powerful, and are full of potential when they believe in themselves. I think these facts are very important for girls to learn early in their lives. I wish there were books like this when I was a kid!

My six year old daughter, who is a reluctant reader, picked this book out, probably because the cover appealed to her. She loves reading it by herself and to me. She understands it, is inspired by it, and has expressed that she would like to read more books by Ashley Rice. Thank you!
