This is a very useful book for ESL students trying to improve their public speaking. With clear assignments and rubrics, students can follow their progress easily. Mine was used, and it has lots of pencil (and some pen) writing, but it was a great price.

For students learning English who need visuals and not just exercises this is the book for you. Dale has created exercises and activities for students who need other methods besides just reading page after page full of text. On the cover of each chapter is a picture that explains what the chapter is about. The pictures are clear and highlight exactly what the teacher wants to get across to her students. A great chapter that helped me as a new teacher was chapter 3 entitled “Don’t Just Tell Me, Show Me.” The title says it all and is a good guideline for all new teachers who are just starting out in this field. For students learning a new language there needs to be more exercises than just answering questions about yourself or where you come from. As an English speaker who also speaks Spanish it was helpful as I was learning Spanish to look at pictures that matched with specific words or phrases to get visual simulation to break up the text.

I’m enjoying everything single page of this book.
