The Iron Counter Book
Good opening to foods with high iron content but needs to be updated to reflect new knowledge of foods that while high in iron have other properties that black the intake of iron. Eggs are an example; a egg is rated to contain 4% iron but due to the proteins in the yolk you do not absorb the iron.

Very outdated book -- published in 1993 and relies on information from the late 1980s and early 1990s
Some decent content for general background on hemochromatosis but the "Iron Counter" food information on brands and some of the food combination information is now sadly outdated since it's based on late 1980s and early 1990s data and some of its information has been superseded by later research. There is much more up-to-date information available online now, and more current food options. Buy used if you are interested in it--no reason to buy new since it is so out -of-date.

Keep track of your iron level for anemia or Hemochromatosis
Excellent book if you need to keep track of your iron intake for either Anemia or for Iron Overload (Hemochromatosis). Lots of good info in it as well. I recommend this book.

This is a wonderful book to help guide those of us with Hemochromatosis through the grocery aisles and into our homes! I use it all the time to check on foods I am not sure about. Sometimes there is a surprize in that there is no iron content in something I like!
