Book Repair: A How-To-Do-It Manual, Second Edition Revised (How-To-Do-It Manual Series (for Librarians)) Paperback – Illustrated, July 31, 2011

When I received the book its cover and several of its pages were wet. when I tried for over three days to dry it out and that didn't work, I sent it back. I am going to wait a while before I spend the money to repurchase it in the future.

Dr. Lavender used to teach at my school a long time ago (back before all-online classes were all the rage with universities). Thankfully, I'm now being mentored by one of his old Preservation students and she recommended that I get this book for my personal use. Now that I have and after reading it, I would definitely recommend this manual for anyone working with, or interested in, book binding and preservation. It's very informative with great visuals.

As an artist that has only taken a couple bookmaking classes yet makes mostly books, this book is awesome! I bought the book solely for it's instructions on clamshell boxmaking and it is spot on! I have many how-to books and by far this is the clearest, most concise instruction both in its writing and diagrams. I have yet to use the rest of the book for any repairs, but the clamshell box instructions were perfect and I was able to make a beautiful box in 1 morning what had been taking me weeks to troubleshoot. Totally worth every penny!
