Some useful little bits in this kit, inc. touchscreen gloves, basic scraper
This is better than poundshop quality, although you could probably put the same kit together for what this cost. The gold kit has more useful items. The touchscreen gloves sort of worked. The yellow vests are particularly useful during winter months, I have worn one for years when cycling. This one is generously sized, and will help you be spotted. Should you be unfortunate enough to break down on a motorway, putting this on as you stand at the side of the road could save your life. The touch screen gloves sort of worked. The scraper's a bit poundshop, but better than a credit card. The foil blanket is one of those sheets that get handed out at the end of marathons. Nothing to give a touch of luxury, and the plastic bag the kit comes in is pretty basic too, but it will do.

Winter Almost Here
Great to have in the boot. All the items have practical use. High visibility jacket is a bit snug for size for yours truly. Shovel is compact and sturdy.Decent product at a fair price. Hope I never have to use it...

A very useful set
This is a very useful set to have in the boot of the car for winter.I was expecting the spade to be plastic, but it is very sturdy and made of metal and made by Hilka. The other components of the kit are well made and considering the cost are of good quality. The canvas bag, is intact a nylon bag with a zip, but that aside this is an excellent kit, which is now in the boot ready for the snow, when it arrives.

SafeTravel Winter Motoring Emergency Breakdown Kit Gold.
The quality of this kit is rather variable, which draws it's overall usefulness into question. The best item is the compact folding shovel, though I wouldn't like to use it with my bad back; it is essentially a copy of a military-style tri-folding entrenching tool, with a D-handle and a rather vicious-looking serrated edge for impromptu defence of one's trench. This is probably only suitable for moving snow though, I doubt if the metal is tough enough to deal with frozen soil. There is an indifferent pair of woollen gloves (fine if you don't get them wet) a plastic-bodied dynamo torch, a foil blanket, a high-visibility vest and a really cheap quality ice-scraper which I'd never let near my car windows. It all comes in a nylon-zipped bag (not canvas).Given the winters we in Central Scotland have had to endure, I wouldn't want to rely entirely on this kit, but in a short term emergency it would be better than nothing – a handy standby rather than something for daily winter use.At £18+ (currently) the price is a bit steep for what you get.

Handy to keep in the boot of your car.
I would've given this set a 3 and a half star rating, why...... because I was impressed with some of the items, the metal fold up shovel in particular and the handy foil blanket. However, the ice scraper is very small and I had issues with the wind up torch. The torch works by pressing the handle in and out however the handle was jammed in the mechanism, ended up having to use WD40 to loosen the handle so that the wind up mechanism worked. If you don't do alot of travelling this set might be the one to go for but if you do travel alot pay more for a better quality set.

Perhaps not quite all it claims to be
This is a fairly well conceived "survival" kit for car breakdowns, containing a (very) small foldable shovel, a wind up torch, ice scraper, thermal blanket and gloves, and a hi viz vest, all packed in a large nylon bag. The items are all fairly cheap and the torch broke on first use, but the shovel is a fairly decent quality item. The kit really lets itself down in it's self description however. "Gold" is a subjective term that can be considered optimistic at best and "All the essentials and more" is frankly inaccurate. I'd certainly want to supplement this with a small first aid kit, a hazard triangle and a spare bottle of washer fluid. However, I mustn't be churlish. It IS a cheap kit, the majority of its components are indeed useful or even essential for winter travel and the shovel is almost worth the asking price alone.

Impressive value
Very good kit, comes with hi-vi reflective waistcoat, fold-able shovel, touch screen gloves, foil blankets and window scraper all in strong nylon bag. Very impressive.
