lacks any real story, not as good as the first one
I playedΒ Lost Planet Extreme Condition: Colonies Edition - PC , and that's why I bought Lost Planet 2. The games share a common theme, but they are very different.Lost Planet 2 lacks any real story. All you do is shoot enemies (who sometimes look just like you), shoot Akrid, and activate data posts. But why? What is the goal? In episode 4, more than halfway through the campaign, you finally learn about a (weak) story: Nevec is trying to destroy the planet or turn it back into an ice world, so you have to stop them. But after you learn about the story, you get lost in the battles again...with no real plan to do anything but shoot enemies, shoot Akrid, and activate data posts. There are cutscenes, but they are battle oriented. Again, what is the goal? I don't know. Unlike Lost Planet 1, no real story unfolds with Lost Planet 2.In Lost Planet 1, I actually cared about some of the characters. In Lost Planet 2, I'm left asking "what characters?" There really aren't any; there is just a generic "them" and "us" (and the Akrid, and the data posts). Most of the time, you don't see anyone's face (there is always a helmet or mask blocking the face). Remember Wayne, Luka, and Rick from Lost Planet 1? They are nowhere to be found in Lost Planet 2 (and there are no names for anyone in Lost Planet 2...because there are no characters).Lost Planet 1 left us at a world that was turning from an ice planet into a garden planet. In Lost Planet 2, it is unclear what is going on, since you see both landscapes. Which landscape is winning and why? I don't know. How do you play the single player campaign? That's not clear either. Here are some tips:CAMPAIGNTo start the campaign, scroll through the main menu until you find "campaign", and then click on it.Select "offline" for connection type.Select episode 1, chapter 1.Set difficulty, and # of AI, and friendly fire.Click create game.SAVES - checkpoint systemThe checkpoint system saves only when you see a screen that says "continue or save". Choosing either "continue" or "save" will save the game. Never leave the game before you see a screen that says "continue or save" (or you'll have to restart from the last checkpoint). You can only start chapters from the start (you can't continue from the last mission played). "Mission complete" does NOT mean the game is saved. You'll know when you finish a chapter, because you'll see a screen that says "continue or save".After you quit for the day and want to continue with the game the next day...To start where you left off (i.e., the last checkpoint), from the main menu, go to "campaign", select the most recent episode and chapter, set AI to the desired #, and click create game. There is no "resume".I was expecting a story, but there really was none. I do not plan to buy Lost Planet 3.If you are only playing the single player campaign, then you do not need the Internet to install or play (and the game will not ask you for the product key). You will need Games for Windows Live, but you can use a local profile to avoid the Internet. I have the DVD version of the game, not Steam. The graphics look really good. The game worked fine for me (no noticeable bugs, no crashes). I'm running it on Windows XP SP3 Home Edition, GeForce GTX 560 Ti, Intel i7 3820, 4 GB RAM.The seller was AOOutlet. I paid 20 bucks including shipping.Visit my Amazon wish lists to see my 4-star and 5-star PC games:http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/BEYS4KHZTP24/http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/35VC2S12P5A8R/

This Game is a Blast!!!
I don't know why the other reviews were poor for this game, but i am thoroughly enjoying it. i have played the two earlier Lost Planet games: Extreme and Lost Colonies and had a great time playing those also. I liked the fast paced action in this game: lots of unique weaponry and fantastic enemies enemies to use them on. Capcom did a great job with Lost Planet 2 (i have several of their games.) Graphics are amazing. The only issue i have pertains to Windows Live and the flaming hoops you have to jump for them in order to play a game! But thats another diatribe. Also to note: this is'nt a short game; i've been playing for several hours and plan to replay several missions when completed. So if you enjoy shooting people and giant bugs (on your computer) then i recomend getting this game. You should be happy you did.

DONT BUY THIS GAME
I would have given this game a five star had it run properly and thanks to amazons crappy video game return policy which is pointless, i ran the game and it worked but i had to adjust a few things like turning the sensitivity of the mouse ingame way way down to one and even then it is still way to touchy, to play the game i had to uninstall it and re install it to get it to run properly DO NOT BUY THIS GAME unless you know how to get past alot of things and or you are obsessed with this game, also, a word to amazon, lots of people buy video games online, only to find out that they dont run properly on thier computer even though thier computer was up to standards with the game, most times its an installation problem that cannot be fixed, then they find out that they cant return the game because it has to be in its original plastic packaging, they then have wasted money, and amazon has cheated them

98 I am glad I got the game Lost Planet is a great ...
Lost Planet 2 continues on from Lost Planet and spins from Capcom. For $ 9.98 I am glad I got the game Lost Planet is a great action, first person shooter, but it's Old school, meaning, The person plays against the game. On-line, Team playing it does not do from what I can tell, for those who like playing against a good game this should be a lot of fun.

Great game! Good Service, 4 Stars
The game graphics and gameplay and storyline exceed my expectations, the only star to be knocked off has to do with the multiplayer coop being very difficult to set up over a LAN connection. Otherwise, a great buy!

Nonstop action: better than the first
Even though I liked the original lost planet, this one was better. It took me a while to get going, and the controls were quite a bit different from the original game yet the story and the action were better than ever. Some might say the story is shallow and linear. However, there was plenty of action and it held my interest throughout I would recommend this game to anybody

Awesome game, in my humble opinion...
I don't understand why this game doesn't have more PC players, as I found the game a lot of fun, and enjoyed the brilliant performance, lack of bugs (or at least none that I even remember) and loved the multiplayer options, but unfortunately never got to try them, because nobody plays it! :( Awesome game, though, just don't expect to play it online. This game does indeed use "Games for Windows - Live" as you can see from the case image, so keep that in mind, however, I don't recall having a single problem with GfWL, and rarely do, so please take into account, too! The graphics I think (still) are absolutely amazing, and the game seems to have an amazing engine. I can't say the story was blow-your-arse-off sensational, but what I have seen was pretty sweet, and I'd say that it's not a game that's designed to awe you with amazing storylines that you'll remember for years to come, but rather it's about awesome gameplay, multiplayer, and gorgeous graphics.Happy gaming!

Lovely graphics but a bit shallow....
Loves the graphics and the video trailers and I have had hours of fun with it, once you figure out how to do the basics of course.I play MMORPG so was looking for something that I could dip into at a moment's notice between games. LP2 does that, lovely graphics but the game feels a bit aged compared to MW and BF3. I was attracted to this game because I know of it and the price but it doesn't have enough to hold me. For the price, I gave it an extra star otherwise it would be three (nice eye candy and fun for a few hours)....

Great looking game
I didn't expect much from this game apart from it being eye candy with not much backing. I suppose the characters and storyline are just awful but that is not what I was looking for in this game. It was for the co-op abilities and to take down huge monsters using teamwork. Sure it isn't needed but it is a lot more fun if you are playing with others. Also to those complaining about the Games for Windows, I have not seen a problem with it as of now but I already had an account set up before I entered the game. Definitely worth the low price I paid for it.
