Chapter eight is missing
The book is great except it’s not the entire book. I was really looking forward to using it but lesson eight (dealing with teasing) is completely missing. I returned my book and requested a replacement and got another book missing chapter eight. So frustrating! I will be contacting customer service to try to get this resolved. All the other chapters are great. So if you don’t mind missing out on chapter eight, this is a great book to get for helping children improve upon their social skills. It does require that you have a lot of opportunities to observe the child in social settings and give them feedback on their interactions, so not the best book for individual therapy interventions unless you can figure out a way to adapt it.

Finally, a logical and practical approach for special needs youngsters
As a teacher, I appreciate the "common sense" approach that Dr. Giler advocates in her book. I only wish this user friendly book was available when I first began teaching. Dr. Giler addresses the types of teasing which these children must endure. She also discusses the meaning of tone and its significance in others' feeling so that these youngsters can best assimilate into the culture of youth. These issues, so important to a normal and healthy childhood have never been addressed. I hope that Dr. Giler continues to work on these rarely discussed social interactions. Julie A. Hanks, Ph.D.
