What has been chosen to include as patterns & motifs in this Guide proves to be very helpful in identifying origins of many different semi-antique and antique village & tribal rugs. As the author explains patterns in modern rugs are not included, but if they continue traditional patterns the reader can ascertain the origin of patterns in later modern rugs through this Guide. Like Peter Stone's Oriental Rugs, An Illustrated Lexicon of Motifs, Materials, and Origins, which this Guide supplements in an excellent manner, Village & Tribal Rugs is a splendid reference work for anyone seriously interested in carpets. In both of the Stone books mentioned above, I am referring to the hardback editions. Highly recommended.

This is a great book on a niche subject. I saw the book in a bookshop in Istanbul and the price was an eye-watering $250. So finding this new on Amazon was exciting. I bought it as a gift and it was well received.

Very good and easily to read book about a very interesting subject. With lots af images that makes things clear.

タイトルにある「デザイン・パターン＆モチーフ」の通りの本です。カラフルで美しいデザインがたくさん載っています。注意点ですが、刺繍用の図案集ではないということと、実際の絨毯の写真は載っていません。絨毯に使われるパターンやモチーフを図に起こして、くっきりと分かりやすく紹介してくれています。「これ写真撮ったほうが早いんじゃない？」というような複雑で細かいものも・・・。色の合わせ方やデザインの勉強をしたい人におすすめです。
