Perennially funny!
Classic Mike Myers. Both hilarious and sweet. Stephen Colbert is wonderful.

Elephant crap, bodily functions, and all-out cheap crudeness! Lots of immature fun!
If you are a fan of the Austin Powers franchise, especially part 3, you will think at times that you have seen Myers do this type of character portrayal before. Well, and you have! Myers has played very similar wacky, crazy, strange, crude, characters for sure. Some have complained of these similarities and wrote bad reviews semi-based on this fact. For being a "Love Guru" whom is out to make the world a better place, he is very perverted and crude at times... well, most of the time! He is mega-rude to the coach of the Maple Leafs, played by Verne Troyer. The chemistry between the two is piss-your-pants funny as the coach tries to even the score with the Guru he literally cannot stand the sight of, which you can't blame him for!The announcers at the hockey arena, Justin Timberlake's character, Jessica Alba (yeah, that freak show of a guru would have a chance with her), and an unusually funny Ben Kingsley all help add some flair to this ruckus tale of a Love Guru and his quest to cleanse the world with joy and peace. I didn't realize Love Gurus were such rude, demented, perverts! I watch this when I need a good laugh and hopefully you will at least give it a shot!Until then my fellow amazon.com junkies!!!

BEST Mike Myers Movie YET!!!!
In my husband and my opinion, this is the BEST Movie Mike Myers has ever made to this day!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband said in order to really get the humor in a lot of the movie, you have to watch it more than once because you hear and see things you didn't focus in on before or just didn't understand exactly what he was implying. As you watch it again, and even yet again, you become more comfortable with the characters and then start to really understand more of the humor and references because it doesn't pass by so quickly. I don't like parts of comedies going by without knowing most of what they're referencing, so I googled a bunch of names, words, and references from the movie that I didn't quite understand... and I gotta tell ya, this movie was genius and hilarious!! I can even say that I LOVE it so much that it's right up there with Jim Carrey's best! After seeing this movie over and over again, I'm still interpreting different parts in different ways and I find it just as comical as before! My husband and I are walking around quoting many parts from the movie, all day long!!! I think the critics zonked out on this one and I won't trust their ratings because I think this movie should have been at least in the top box office hits. We are also big fans of his Austin Powers and Wayne's World... and even Shrek!!!Perhaps we find it so funny because we are into Deepak Chopra, spiritual type stuff, and music, as well as Jim Carrey; so by mixing them all, We're in Heaven! :) Rented it once, bought it immediately afterwards, then watched it at least 15 times, and ready to watch it another 15 times!!!!

Very underrated.
This is not Austin Powers with a new character but the movie is touching and there are some laugh out loud belly holding moments. The tone is slightly off as I think they tried too hard to inject an Austin Powers like vibe into this, probably because of the studio pushing. It works best at the feel-good level, funny with deeper messages. The more silly moments actually take away from the film but the overall story is pretty good. The best parts are the real feeling of connection between the characters and if they focused on that more I would have given it 5stars. Still it's worth watching.

"I am not blind, just severly crosseyed. I know... its wierd."
I have not seen many Mike Meyers movies, I am probably the only one who has not seen the Austin Powers movies. This movie is definetly a niche movie. And even there it's kind of a toss up.If you like Meyers, and a physical comedy that has a hockey theme to it you'll like it.Once I watched the behind the scenes, I appreciated the movie more, when I found out how athletic Timberlake is. Hockey fans will probably know the name Rob Blake, during one of the breaks in the action, started taking real shots on Timberlake. (Timberlake) who plays Jaques Grande the LA Kings goaltender, started to make some saves on the Rob Blake wrist and slapshots.I can't say pro or con to this film, I liked it for what it was entertainment. Why try to pick apart the realisim of the hockey scenes when this is just a movie.

Yes
I'd watched this movie when it first came out, and I remembered I was quite touched by it in an odd way, but I couldn't remember how or why. After all these years, I decided to watch it again, this time biased with the poor reviews given to it.While I do agree that the movie is quite charged with silly jokes and it's just plain stupid at moments, I was able to remember why I'd enjoyed it all those years ago. It's got quite a few important messages about self-love and self-respect. That is basically what the whole movie is about.Wonderfully, this time I was able to understand that for Deepak Chopra to agree to be in this movie, there must have been a reason. It makes absolute sense, that in order for Western societies to feel compelled to watch this movie, it had to appeal to the meanings and symbolism in said societies, in a way or another. And what better than a game of ice hockey, business management and some romance to lure the publics in?There is definitely more than just a silly comedy and it's there in plain sight, filled with very important messages. And I think that makes the movie worth the watch and the few times it'll make you laugh.

I liked it. You might like it as well
The bottom line is: this movie made me laugh. I am glad I bought this movie because I can see myself watching it again and laughing again with it.If you like Mike Myers you should give a try. As you can see, some people hate it, some people love it. I think this movie has an undeniable charm, and if you want to find another excuse to watch it Jessica Alba looks very cute, and Justin Timberlake does a good acting job.I am into B movies and world cinema, but sometimes it's just really difficult to find a fun movie that has such a feel good factor as this one. Oh well, yes, it's a little bit dumb, but I had a great time. Sit down and relax, take it easy. It's not gonna be always about war dramas and psychological thrillers. Don't you think?

Great
Excellent movie. Delivered quickly, states I need to add more words but what else can I say? Had a cuffufle initially because I was supposed to click brand new but clicked most expensive good as new but that's my own fault and for a couple quid can't really complain. Disk works perfectly, no problems.

Entertaining for me
I thought this was quite entertaining, don't know why they say it was not good, and for a few pence less than a couple of pounds well worth it in my opinion.

Not quite the car crash you may have heard about, but not that great either
Some things are obvious. Like sneaking out a DVD just into the New Year with not a lot of fanfare. This is the usual indication that the movie in question stinks in a way that only, say, an extremely runny Camembert can. So it seems to be with The Love Guru, which I bought and have now watched. Is it really that irretrievably awful? No, actually, it isn't. It is not, however, anywhere as good a film as it should have been. Why not? Well, I think the greatest problem lies with Mike Myers himself; it's not entirely simple to explain, but I'll try.Myers has made his reputation on the basis of character comedy, both with and without partners. In the two Waynes World films he worked well with Dana Carvey, while in the Austin Powers films he manages to carry the film along on his own, albeit with strong supporting casts. In both of these cases, the principal character is quite a strong one: most teenage boys or those in their 20's could understand Wayne Campbell to some degree, even it was an exaggeration of the truth. Austin Powers , of course, played on a number of levels: American perceptions of Englishness, the Bond movies (and the Derek Flint films) not to mention the filtering of the 1960's through the eyes of a modern, irony-sensitive audience. The most interesting Myers film, though, is his first: So I Married An Axe Murderer . It's a film with a great supporting cast and one where Myers' character is better developed than in later efforts. All of these points of recognition are almost universal for audiences in the West. Ufortunately, the same doesn't really apply to the character of Guru Pitka. Because there is less understanding on the part of the audience it's that much more difficult to go with the gag, especially in these more politically correct times when such fun-poking can be seen as rather lazy racial stereotyping. I don't think Myers (quite) gets there, to be fair. His accent does drift alarmingly, however. To get around this lack of understanding of the character he has to work harder to give him a back story, which I think explains things just a bit too much. And it's annoying because there are the foundations of some very good gags, both running and one-off. I also think that some of the deleted material should have stayed in, because it was an improvement on the edits that made it mostly. One other major problem was that the movie cosied up too much to a target that could have been speared: the remorseless tide of self-help, actualisation, guru-style media floating around in the US (and becoming more popular here). The fact that this film actually had a Deepak Chopra cameo pretty much exemplifies the problem. If the film really had properly skewered the whole Hollywood self-help guru circus, we wouldn't have seen Chopra for the smoke. Myers' own real-life flirtations with such matters probably have not helped him apply his critical faculties to the situation fully, seeing as one could reasonably claim that he's actually a part of it himself. Those are the film's two major problem. But there are more. To a lesser degree, some of Myers' gags are not as strong as in previous outings. And he does have a tendency to push an idea to its limit (and on occasion past it) to extract the maximum amount of laughter. It doesn't always work this time. But sometimes it does, especially where he uses Verne Troyer well. Many have also complained about Ben Kingsley 'demeaning himself' playing Guru Tugginmypuddha. I disagree. He's clearly having fun and this is the kind of dumb, puerile humour (not a complaint) Myers does best. The 'Stink Mop' sequence is a riot. In fact, the longer version, complete with Omid Djalili as Guru Sachabignobba, is one of the deleted scenes that should have stayed in the final edit. The top and tail musical sequences aren't bad, though I think the '9 to 5' number worked a little better at the start.Justin Timberlake does himself plenty of favours as he does seem to have an ability to play comedy. His turn as Jacques 'Le Coq' Grandé is a good one. I also really liked the commentary booth moments with Trent and Jay. The deleted scenes scenes for these two contain a couple of fantastic moments, particularly at one point where Jay is dragged out of the box and shouts a very interesting expression in German (if you've ever read any Robert Anton Wilson ) as the security guards haul him away.In the end, this film is not the car crash you may have heard about. Neither though is it all it should have been. A sadly missed opportunity. Waynes WorldAustin PowersSo I Married An Axe MurdererRobert Anton Wilson
