I used it for talking with friends online. I kept it on my desk only half a foot away from my face. It will pick up your breathing and background noises and the audio isn't that great either. I do not recommend. Get a condenser recording mic instead if you want to talk with friends without worrying about background noise and audio quality. I would recommend the Fifine brand.

Exactly what I was looking for. I am using this microphone for medical dictation using Dragon Naturally Speaking. The microphone works great and really does only record the sound the microphone is directionally facing. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend or other healthcare professionals who use dictation software. Fantastic product.
