A History of Rock Music: The Rock-and-Roll Era

Glenn Gass's History of Rock course at Indiana University was the first class of its kind at a major School of Music (if memory serves). He's a legend at the school, and I hear he's an awesome guy outside of the classroom as well. This is a comprehensive, entertaining book, as only Glenn Gass could write it.
