Definitive Tyrannosaurus
2020 PNSO “Wilson” The Tyrannosaurus Rex. Tyrannosaurus rex is, by far, the single most iconic dinosaur of all time. Despite its immense popularity, however, there are surprisingly few up to date reconstructions available. So, when PNSO announced an updated version of their already impressive “Wilson” figure, the collecting community took notice. Having him in hand, I can say with confidence that Wilson is the definitive T. rex on the market for the time being. Being a part of PNSO’s premium “Museum Series” line, Wilson comes in a beautiful, high quality package. The figure, and stand, are securely nestled into foam packing for protection. The package includes an informative, and beautifully illustrated booklet as well. Given the price point, the beautiful booklet, and high quality packs is much appreciated. However, I do wish the figure had included a decorative base rather than the generic stand. It would have helped to justify the retail price, and PNSO does an amazing job on their bases. It’s a bit of a shame Wilson didn’t receive the same treatment as PNSO’s Amargasaurus, or their original Spinosaurus release. The figure itself is beyond impressive. This is a decently sized Tyrannosaurus figure, and is quite heavy. It certainly feels like a premium figure. The detailing is stunning! Let me start by saying that PNSO absolutely nailed the binocular vision! The eyes look great. The nostrils are nicely sculpted as well. However, the ear openings could have been a bit more apparent than they are. The head features a wide variety of scalation. Very large (some say too large) keratinous scales cover the front of the face, running up the ridge of the snout, and ending at the two hornlets above the eyes. The rest of the head is covered in a mix of small and medium scales. All are expertly applied, and are quite naturalistic. If there is one detail missing that I wish PNSO had included, it’s facial scars. We know Tyrannosaurus often bit each other on the face, and it would have been nice to see that behavior represented here, but that’s only a minor nitpick on my part. The jaws are articulated, and the articulations are smoothly implemented. I’d go so far as to say that they have the best articulations of any PNSO release so far. The interior of the mouth displays some seriously impressive detail of its own. The tongue is realistically textured. The cavernous throat looks deep and realistic. The interior of the mouth, throat, and jaw flaps are all painted with a naturalistic mucus membrane color, and feature a nice gloss to give them the illusion of wetness. The roof of the mouth is sculpted with grooves for the teeth to rest in. Nasal passages are sculpted into the roof of the mouth as well, a detail I hope to see more of from other companies in the future. The teeth appear very sharp, and you can really get an idea of just how massive they were. Everything in the mouth is painted with great care, and realism. The neck is thick and very muscular. The incredible scalation continues, with a mix of small and medium size scales, as well as pebbled texture skin. There are some nice wrinkles and skin folds on the right side of the neck, as the head turns that direction, contrasted with skin stretching on the left. The body of the figure captures the latest anatomical reconstructions of Tyrannosaurus with near perfection. The chest is thick and robust. The tiny arms look even smaller here due to the sheer bulk of the animal’s torso. Despite their diminutive size, the arms sport some wicked claws, and PNSO represents them nicely here. The beautiful variety of scales continues across the figure. I love how the scales smoothly transition from a pebbled scale, to a more traditional rectangular scale on the belly. The skin wrinkles and stretches realistically across the body as well. This is especially apparent around the legs. The leg pushes into the stomach on the right, causing the skin to wrinkle appropriately, while the left leg pulls back, causing the skin on the belly to stretch. The legs are muscular and powerful looking. Their sculpting gives a nice sense of movement. The detail is excellent here as well. I love that the dew claws appear sharp, but the weight bearing toes have blunted claws. This makes them look worn down realistically, and adds an impressive bit of believability to the sculpt. The scales on the feet are a bit off from current scientific theory, however. There are some large, bird foot style, plate scales represented here. Scientists do not believe these would have been present on theropod dinosaurs at the time. It’s a minor issue, and one that many figures will continue to have. There are some really nice details on the bottom of the feet as well. If you like making dinosaur tracks, Wilson is the figure for you! I like the way the scales on the belly transition to large, rectangular scales between the legs, and then transition back to smaller scales just before the cloaca. It gives the animal padding for a resting position. In pictures, I always thought the tail seemed a bit too skinny compared to the rest of the figure. In hand, however, the tail appears to be proportioned perfectly. The scale details continue to impress all the way to the very tip of the tail as well. The pose on the figure is fairly neutral. Wilson is posed walking forward, with the neck turning to the right. The aforementioned skin folds and wrinkles help to boost the implied movement. PNSO continues to impress with their figure’s balance as well. Wilson stands perfectly, and without having oversized feet! With his thick legs, and perfect center of gravity, you shouldn’t have any issues with this figure falling over, but a clear plastic stand is included just in case. Wilson’s coloration isn’t particularly noteworthy. It’s a pretty standard Tyrannosaurus coloration. However, what it lacks in originality, it makes up for in application. Everything is so naturalistically applied and blended, you could almost forget that you’re looking at painted plastic, rather than flesh and blood. The eyes and teeth are particularly well done. The striping along the back breaks up the outline of the body, and makes for excellent camouflage. Exactly what you would expect to see in a hunter! PNSO has created a masterpiece with Wilson. While I feel he is a little bit overpriced, and there are some very minor nitpicks here and there, I feel confident in giving him a high recommendation to any dinosaur collector. As I stated in the beginning, Wilson is the definitive T. rex on the market at the time of this writing. Just try to do like I did, and catch him at a discount. Honestly though, even if I had paid full price, I wouldn’t have been disappointed!

AMAZING
I was so excited for this Ceratosaurus to arrive and it exceeded my expectations!!As you can see, the dinosaurs is quite big compared to my hand and the packaging is excellent. The Dino cannot stand by himself so you will need to place him on the stand it comes with. Will order more!

Most Accurate Ceratosaurus Model Available!
I read reviews and saw the Youtube videos so I brought Nick home.Accuracy was a huge determiner for buying Nick. His teeth, skull shape, and four-fingered hands are based SOLIDLY on Ceratosaurus fossils. This is hard to find in most Ceratosaurus toys or models, so if your all about fine details -very fine details- this is the best bang for your buck. Very sturdy and beautiful paint job. He has a dynamic pose that adds character to the desk or room.Cons: None of these are deal breakers, but a few things I wish were different. The stand is a bit short for the model, there are no moving parts (like the jaw), and the eyes are rather dark, making them hard to see. Other than that, Nick is well worth the money.

More please.....
So, I had made several attempts, through eBay, to purchase this and other PNSO products.Every last one of them never arrived and culminated in eBay having to refund me.I was despondent and had decided to not bother even though one Dino blogger pushed me to Amazon.I figured the worst that could happen was, once again, someone uses me for a quick cash grab and I have to go through another refund process. My Amazon vendor came through! As pleased as I was that the figure actually arrived, I was astounded at the size and accuracy of detail on this Ceratosaurus.I’ve got nothing else that comes close. The suggested skeletal structure, obvious muscle groups, scale, tooth and extremity details really bring this guy to life. The overall color scheme may differ from promo photos but I have no complaints. The final take away on the figures color scheme is the realistic way in which dust seems to have settled within the scale structure implying an animal traveling/stalking/chasing through a dry environment. Not certain about the bend in the tail-I was under the impression that theropod tails had some mobility but not certain about the degree of motion implied by this figure.Regardless, it gives the suggestion of a very action packed moment in this animals life. The stand is my only disappointment. And, man, it’s awful.I’ll be creating my own with appropriate dry surroundings and maybe some heat distressed vegetation.I would suggest going to YouTube and check out lauralegends or dinodragons review of this guy.I can not recommend this figure highly enough. They seem to be drying up or going up in pricing.Definitely shop around for the best price but be wary of huckster vendors on eBay.
