Fabulous Book, Not a Great Ending
Even though I gave this a 5 star rating, I still couldn't get over the ending. I loved this book a great deal. The story picks up right where we left off in Rift; Ember is on the run with Barrow, and Eira is taking control with Bosque at her side. The entire world that Ms. Cremer has created in this series is fantastic and I would read it over and over again. It is very well crafted and inventive, and just when you think you figure things out, there's a twist that takes you by surprise. I thought Ms. Cremer's introduction of how the werewolves came to be was genius and so well thought out!I also loved the relationship between Ember and Barrow. It was beautiful and so romantic. I enjoyed reading the scenes where they were together, just the two of them. Ember and Barrow balance each other out, and are perfect together. I was always rooting for Barrow, even in Rift, and I am happy with how their relationship worked out in the end. However, I still strongly dislike Alister, which is how it's suppose to be (at least that's what I assume Ms. Cremer was going for). But, like I said in the beginning, I just couldn't get over the ending. There was just no feeling of a conclusion. I knew originally this was only supposed to be a duology, but I need and want another book. Granted, I know that Bosque Marr doesn't get defeated until the last book in the Nightshade series, but there could easily be another book. Even though you find out how the two groups came to be in the Nightshade series, I still would like to see the original formation of them. Also, I want to know what happened to some of the characters. Did Ember and Barrow get married? What about Agnes? There's a whole slew of characters that I want more information on. A couple more chapters, or even a epilogue could have done wonders, and I would have been much happier. This was still a fabulous book, and I highly recommend it. If you loved the Nightshade series, and loved Rift, then you will enjoy this book, but don't expect an ending. It's left open, which in a way is a good thing. Nevertheless, pick this book up if you want a good read that will take you on a fun adventure.

A Great Peek Into the Beginnings of the Nightshade World
I really liked this prequel series and have read that this is the last book before the series jumps to Nightshade. I really would like and appreciate one more book...I felt this one ended so abruptly. This book focuses on the aftermath of what happens after the group decides to leave the keep and Lady Eira. So much happens in this book and there is so much room for more. I loved seeing the relationship progress between Ember and Barrow. Honestly, Alistair is somewhat of a nutjob and his obsession with Ember was crazy. He actually moves from obsessing only about Ember to a "project" that will have a huge impact on the war between the Conatus guards and Lady Eira.I won't go into everything that happens as a whole lot does truly go down. There is a lot of intrigue, magic, danger and some romantic tension.I will definitely hop into the Nightshade series to read more but also hope that there is some back story included so that I can understand what happened between the wedding and Calla's world.

Action packed and suspenceful, Andrea Cremer will always be one of the greats to me!
This novel was the perfect sequil to rift. It had some very good surprises. Ember and Borrow never let me down in the romance department. I will send a formal complaint to Cremer if there is no sequil to this. SPOILER ALERT! The book did end with a feel that there would be no more in the series, but there were so many things left un-said and un-done that I would not be satisfied with. For example, everyone got away and is free and everyone is together. I know it can't have a completely happy ending since then there would have never been the Nightshade novels, but I would like there to be something more hopeful and solid in the legacy of Ember and Borrow.Besides the ending, I have been waiting a very long time, since Rift, for this book and I was in no way let down. Beautifully written and well exicuted, I would recommened this book to every Nightshade fan out there.

Eira.
The focus of my review will be about Eira. Recap from Rise ~ She is warrior trapped in a time where women have little to zero power and she grew tired of having to limit herself because of men and their strict ways. So, in her desperation, she turns to a mysterious figure - Bosque Mar, who is much more then he appears to be. In Rift ~ Eira has subtly ceased control of Tearmunn Keep with the help of dark magic from Bosque and she forces her will into the outlying posts across the world. All in all, an excellent book. Also what Eira does at the end of Chapter 28 is both shocking and passionate. (Sorry, no spoiler's. If you wanna know what happens then you gotta buy the book.)

Very great
This book rise is the second part to the rift . The book starts off where the rift left you last with. Ember leaving, so throughout the book it goes back and forth between ember telling and Alistair telling his point . Throughout the book secrets are kept on both sides . To skip forward the ending was incredible due to most of the battle coming from ember point of view . In this book you will find that power changes people . All in all this was a pretty good book I would love to see how this all ties in with the nightshade trilogy

A good read
Since this book is so different from the Nightshade books (i.e. no wolves), I don't really consider them part of the same series. That being said, I think I might actually like these two prequels better since they're more in the fantasy genre. My only wish is that there had been more of a romance aspect between Ember and Barrow. Their interactions typically ending up being all work and no fun. It would be great if another book is in the works that would develop their relationship more and give them an official happy ending.

Rise by Andrea Creamer
This book tied all the other books together. Although I hope a book or two is written about the main characters in this book, on their lives after fleeing Conatus and living as nomads in the Norse country. We understand how Cian was scattered to the winds to guard the pieces of the the elememtal cross but what of Ember, Barrow, Agnes, Rebekah and Lukasz and their lives thereafter. Thank you Deise

As addictive as ever
I have been desperate to get my hands on this sequeal ever since I finished Rift and it did not disappoint.Rise starts exactly where Rift left off, with Ember and Barrow fleeing from Tearmunn, which has been swiftly taken over by Eira and Bosque Mar.This book is split mostly between Ember and Alistair's perspective. As a character, I relike dislike Alistair, but it was good to see what was going inside Tearmunn after Barrow and Ember left. His obsession with Ember comes accross as pathetic. His willingness to to embrace everything about Bosque Mar and all the related evil makes him a difficult character to like.Bosque continues to be his truly evil self and each time he sends something after the rebels, I was on the edge of my seat worried for their lives. He often appears to know to things he shouldn't which makes him even more creepy. The relationship between Barrow and Ember heats up but also isn't the main focus. Ember feels like she regresses a bit in this book as she often seems more unsure of herself. However she also goes out of her way to try and help the people she cares about, even if it puts her own life in danger. All the way through Rift it feels like we are moving towards the world in which Calla know in Nightshade. Although it feels like the book does come to a final conclusion, there are still so many open ends that I hope there is going to be another one.If you liked Rift, Rise will definitely be right up your alley

Fab Read
This book is one of Andrea's best. The story keeps you wanting to read on and you have to make yourself put so you can actually get up the next morning! The other book in the series must be read first.
