Great paper and lovely cover
These are gorgeous and great value. The paper is thick and can take a lot of water and ink, it is perfect for what I like I will definitely purchase again and I have already bought the pocket version too

Great!!!
Amazing product. Love the pages including the mixture between cold and hot pressed. Had my doubts about being able to use both sides of the sheet but it worked. Very pleased and will get them again. Also appreciated the plastic pouch in the end and the texture of the fabric cover.

Excellent value
I bought these books for rough paintings, and I must say that I am really impressed. The paper handles watercolour (paints and pencils) and mixed media really well (so much better than the moleskin sketch books I have been using). You can't really layer up too much - but that's OK with me as I wouldn't attempt a finished piece in a sketch book.I like the size of the book and the texture of the paper. The books have strong and durable covers - great buy!

Good value art journals
These books are perfect for art journaling, sketching, ideas and other creative processes. The paper is of good weight so doesn’t buckle even when glazing with watercolour. I really like the two different textures - one smooth double page then a rough double page - as it allows more techniques. These books are massive so good value for money but not suitable for Plein air or travelling. I would buy them again for journaling and messing about with materials and techniques.

Great watercolour sketch books
After already purchasing the small sketchbooks. I went for this larger version, and so pleased that the paper is exactly the same! These are really nice sketchbooks and hold watercolour very well... love them!

It's just ok
Think it would be good for mixed media but struggling with my Arteza watercolour brush pens...it soaks up the pigment before you get a chance to add the water. ..have the ring bound Arteza watercolour paper and it's brilliant. If you want to use it for water colours I wouldn't recommend it. Having said that my Inktense work OK .

Impressed - but it's more than you think
Update:The maker has good communication and we reached a satisfactory solution. The interaction left me impressed and given how much I like their other books, it looks like the issues with the books I got in this order are unusual.ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWSI have quite a few small-sized Arteza watercolour sketchbooks and find them really nice to paint on. They are a bit fussy with too much water and erasing, but that's to be expected for this weight of paper. For basic quick sketches, the paper is great. So when I wanted a large sketchbook for bigger paintings, I got Arteza thinking it would be the same. It's not.The paper in the large sketchbook is not behaving as I expected. There are areas on the paper where the watercolour paint won't absorb (like it has wax on it) and areas where it absorbs too much. This makes for a splotchy and unpredictable effect.Unlike the smaller books, the paper in the large books is extremely sensitive to tape and I have yet to find a brand (even when I de-stick the tape by getting lint on it first) that won't tear the paper.Even a light attempt to lift lines with a kneaded eraser starts to pill the paper and forget about using a regular rubbing eraser. More than three coats of watercolour seems to be where this paper gets grumpy and if I get it too wet, I can't push around the paint with the brush without the paper joining in and going pulpy. (this did not happen in the smaller Arteza books where 10 layers of paint and a wet wash were fine - so long as I didn't mind warping the paper)And I don't know, it just feels as if I got a really old paper or a bad batch or something. What I like about it:Two-sided with a nice texture on both sides. The cover is lovely in my hands. The A4-ish size is perfect for practising and sketching before starting a big portrait.I'm going to see if it can become a gouache sketchbook, but as it is, I don't think I'll be buying it in this size in this brand again. But I still love the smaller Arteza books, so I might get some of those to toss in my bag.

Excelente

Takes a lot of abuse
I use this book for my mixed media art journaling. I have put this book through extensive abuse and the paper has withstood both delicate art effects and extreme mixed media decoupage treatment. The spine is under extreme pressure on one book now due to the thick layers I have added and it still has not broken. Very impressive for this price range. The paper is mid grade watercolor (not student grade and not horrible but it is not high end artist grade). I have tried multiple watercolor effects with lots of success and minimal warping for this paper grade. I have come across some pages with strange substances on them (perhaps too much sizing or inconsistent sizing).Overall…these sketchbooks are good enough that I have repurchased them and always look forward to working in them.

Carta ottima, molto assorbente
