Very helpful WORK BOOK.I capitalized work book because this is not a "text book," but a helpful "work book" for running your RPG sessions.Covers topics that are directly from Sly Flourish's Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master "text book."The guidance is straight forward enough to stand alone but is much better elaborated in Return of the Lazy DM. This work book hits the key points and helps to get your DM game on point for your next session.Yes, it's a small book (it's not the Text Book, just the addendum Work Book).Yes it has several simple quick charts for items like random names, traps, monuments, items, town events, random monsters and character connection hooks.It has a new challenge rating guide and tables that work with the new system.Yes, half of the book is used for lairs that could be added into any of your sessions. Example lairs are simple designs for a castle, docks, sewers, catacombs, a wizard tower and more (I enjoy the art work, with rooms or sections numbered not labeled so you can use them as actual maps in game). These are helpful and creative with little twists that make each location unique. They are all laid out so they can each be stand alone locations or can be connected to one another to create a complex labyrinth.I was a little disappointed when I purchased this book at first. The reviews I read didn't get it across to me that this is designed as a supplement, like a DM screen in book form, or Cliff Notes to review before your test (game session). Once I came to that realization, my attitude about it changed to being very pleased.I recommend purchasing the Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master to give you more understanding of the philosophy that this workbook is designed to guide you through prior to and during your RPG sessions.If you have read the Lazy Dungeon Master, is this workbook necessary? No, but it is helpful in the same sense that a DM screen is helpful even if it only covers the same charts that are presented in a text book.Would I recommend it? Yes, mainly to DM's but there are comments about approaching your session that would be helpful to just players as well. At the low price it's offered at, I would have no issue with recommending it to everyone.I have read several reviews that show the book was printed with poor quality. Mine arrived quickly and has no print or manufacturing issues at all.All in all, it's a very useful guide book.Let the games begin!

As a very very busy DM, I absolutely adore this supplement. Fir people who are whining about the “quality” it’s an Amazon published book made to order, get over it. Also for those complaining that it was too short or not detailed enough, this is a SUPPLEMENT to an already existing book, and it’s specifically for DMs that aren’t able to do the full prep. It relies heavily on improv because that’s the most fun and the easiest way to manage a game. So many amazing tips and tricks for people like me who work full time, have kids, and have 3 hours a week to hang out with other adults and play a game. I have subscribed to the Sly Flourish method of DMing and I’m never going back.

I actually did the Kickstarter for this book and the Return of the lazy DM together as a PDF. I have enjoyed using this product the past year as a DM, just wanted a physical copy of it other than printing it out myself. Mike Shea does a great job with collecting roll tables and other helpful information right at your finger tips in this book. I keep the book at my side while DMing. If you plan on picking up this book, I would also recommend get the Return of the Lazy DM also.

Not as readable as the return of the lazy dm, but more useful at the table once playing.

This book is written simply and to the point. All the things you need to know to get started plus some cool ideas on alternative rules. And don’t get me started on the random tables and name list. I keep this book with me at all times for some great inspiration.

AS a seat of your pants DM it's always nice to have a quick, npc or villain at your immediate disposal. You can use quick roll tables for those times we all become sputtering brain farts.

This text provides a summary of rules, status effects, and other game mechanics for the tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. The book includes tables for random encounters, NPC names, and pre-built maps that provide a great reference for a Dungeon Master that needs to improvise game sessions. I highly recommend for not only Dungeon Masters, but also for people who want a quick reference to the core rules of the game without digging through the handbooks.

This product is short, but it is dense with content. I don’t believe there is a single unusable page or unhelpful statistic. There are tables, maps, dozens of quickly-rolled encounter generators. There’s even a full page of fantasy names!I highly recommend this guide to anyone who runs long form sessions where characters are prone to improvisation.

This book (and the other of Sly Flourish) are helping me in very good ways. Less work, more fun, that’s the way to be a good DM. And now I’m taking a walk every day (ok, not every day) for half an hour. Good for my health 😊

Very helpful Tables and reference! Everything you could need for good "last time" prep or an easy oneshot. Make a perfect helper for long campaigns too when things go out of control and you need to improv. Excellent variety of hint and maps

Not going into detail to justify why - but never has there been a better 'bang for your buck' for a DM. Do yourself a favour and buy it.

As a brand new DM wasn't sure about this material, but after DMing three times now I have utilized this document multiple times. VERY handy! Come's highly reccomended from me. Quality is a bit higher then expected for the price point as well.
