A must-have for any Chinese medicine practitioner or student!
'Clinical Handbook of Internal Medicine – 2nd Edition' of William Maclean et al. is a must-have for any Chinese medicine clinic and a great support when being a Chinese medicine student. Many disorders are discussed according wisdom from medical classics such as the Huang Di Nei Jing and the Shang Han Lun in a very structured way and using proper and consistent Chinese medical terminology. This edition supplies very solid and clear background info during my current PhD study in acupuncture at NJUCM in China.Information from the three volumes from the 1st Edition is practically captured yet in one extended book and there is deepening into specific medical disorders. There is also a focus on ordinary problems - such as a common cold or rhinosinusitis - that are not healed well or got a wrong treatment resulting in particular difficulties. So other than standard Chinese patterns are described here as well and without doubt: this book is more in-depth than most other books!Per disorder clear explanation about its pathogenesis is provided with concise description of clinical features and treatment principles, followed by a selection of the most important acupuncture points, Chinese herbal formulas and practical daily life advice (food, exercise, manual therapy, nasal/sinus wash etc.). Interesting clinical notes complete each subject and Western medication is clarified in Chinese medical terms. The authors have done a pretty well job putting ancient Chinese medicine in a modern jacket with focus on this current’s time medical problems! Beside the great knowledge the book itself looks fantastic in a red leather cover with golden letters on it! It can’t be more Chinese than that and it stands out among all your other books!Janneke Vermeulen, L.Ac., B.Physio and author of 'Diving Medical Acupuncture'

Nice companion book to supplement Maciocia's The Practice of Chinese Medicine (2nd ed.)
I happened to read a review of Janneke Vermuelen(she is an author of Diving Medical Acupuncture, which I read it after my purchase at Amazon.com) on the book. This book was written by four people, who majored in Chinese Medicine or science as B.S. They continued their career as practitioner, graduate studies and training in China or so. I do firmly believe this book serves nice supplement to to Maciocia's book may be lacking. Eight eyes could be better than two eyes for evaluation of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Macioca is one of very prolific author on Chinese Medicine written in English. He majored in economics in B.S., so he is talented in choosing the area of books attracting peoples interest. Recently a series of China Hygiene "135" project books published by People's Medical Publishing House. I realized some change of trend in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I wish Dr. Maciocia can reflect this trend for revised edition of his books.

Discussion of the Lingering Pathogens - very important!
Thanks to the authors for such a discussion of the Lingering Pathogens. This is so relevant now, especially for urban busy people. With each chapter, you understand more and more the thoughts and logic of the authors in the treatment of the Lingering Pathogens.Only by thoughtfully reading all 89 chapters can one fully grasp this pathology because the symptoms sometimes hidden and very low.

Wonderful book
I’m an acupuncture student and it has helped me with so many patients cases in the clinic. I was hesitant to buy it because of the price but it’s 100% worth it! I’m sure I’ll be using it regularly when I graduate as well.

Great book even for the seasoned practitioner
In school we used the Maciocia books and I always found them hard to read, hard to understand and cluttered. The Clinical Handbook of Internal Medicine is very well written, easy to follow and just makes more sense.
