I love this book-themed enamel lapel pin. It's the perfect addition to my pin collection. The metal work is smooth, and the enamel has no flaws. I like that proceeds of "Out of Print" items go toward literacy projects.

I like that this pin is large enough to read yet small enough to wear on a lapel or collar. Sturdy and attractive. You may receive some comments from people who have opinions concerning banned books but that's to be expected when you make a strong statement. A great gift for librarians who refuse to back down!

Because the shiny shiny background glints and obscures, so someone would need to lean in, squint, and toggle its angle to read the radical-intended caption. But - the sign is so tiny - why would anyone get curious enough, wondering what witty words of wisdom or controversy might be there worth the extra bother? The smart 3-word remark on the high-reflecting chrome mini-sign under the open book is key to the provocative meaning etched almost illegibly underneath. Unfortunately, as presented, without any contrast for the lettering to help the terse trenchant words stand out in the light of day, this pin will seem, in a glance, just ordinary-looking, something a librarian or teacher might wear without stirring any controversy whatsoever, showing an open book period - no challenge to grasp. So this will likely appear ho-hum, advertising the wearer might be someone just plain bookish, or possibly an ardent promoter of reading any books at all for self-improvement in general, not banned books in particular. As such, I know it won't be appealing to the best friend I was planning to surprise.
