Never needs a battery
I bought this as a gift for a friend and I like it so much I bought two. I like that you can see the movement on the back side of the watch. Not to big and fits well. If you don't wear it for a few days it might stop but just swing it from side to side and pick right back up. Not a problem if you wear it regularly.

sellers are difficult and unreasonable
I bought this watch as Christmas gift for a friend. The watch was opened and worn for 2 days until we realized that the wind feature was not holding time accurately. So I requested a refund and sent the watch back to the seller. The package was nice and tidy and the watch was perfectly fine, although the watch was not in its original packaging (I threw it away as one does when you open a package). Btw, the original packaging wasn't ideal - it was just a box with the watch rolling around loose in it... Anyways, 2 weeks later, I am informed that the seller will be keeping $50+ from my reimbursement, because the watch was not in the original packaging and that the watch apparently worked... Listen, the watch didn't work for me (it's possible it was my user error, but I highly doubt it... when a watch stops ticking, it's not working). And I am so disappointment that the sellers decided to keep $50+ from me. When I reached out to the sellers, they were uncooperative with me and told me that I should've sent the watch back in the original package, and that the watch really worked. They kept saying that over and over again, when I tried to get them to understand my dissatisfaction with the lack of refund. Anywho, this is my review. I think the sellers are trying to scam people. Please be aware. Beautiful watch, but it doesn't work and the sellers will deduct money from your refund. I have reached out to Amazon to see if they are willing to take action with the seller.

smart looking
I am female and bought this watch for the sweeping second hand. I was happy to find a 30mm watch for my small wrists , and it's plenty large, but who cares how big my watch is, anyway? It's easy to read, the numbers in minutes and seconds are interesting and the smooth second hand is attractive. I bought the black face with black canvas strap but replaced it with a smaller, tan leather strap. I love it. The price was reasonable.

He loved it!
My son loved this watch which he received for his birthday. Kids today aren’t as comfortable reading a clock with hands, so this was a great support until he’s a master. Will not take long!

Can’t accurately tell time
This watch races ahead about 10 per day. By the end of a week it’s over an hour fast.

My every day watch
I absolutely like wearing this watch every day, and if for any reason it broke I would definitely get another one!

Deteriorated in storage
This is an absolutely excellent watch. I have, unfortunately, developed problems with both of the watches I've bought. They've both become unstable, no longer working reliably after only a few months of use. One gains a minute per day, and the other has problems with random stoppages. They were in storage, not running, for years. I now begin to suspect that the lubricants deteriorated in these conditions, causing problems with the movement. I'm now looking at having to get these new watches serviced, most likely at a cost far exceeding their purchase price.

The best entry level Seiko, the reviews about "stops during the night" are plain wrong.
What can I say about the SNK809? It's an automatic, 40 hour power reserve and has a workhorse movement that dates back to the 1960's. It comes with Hardlex crystal - something I've never experienced a scratch with, but you'll hear things on either side of that fence. The weight feels good for it's size, you can tell this isn't crap, it won't let you down. Oh yeah, it's water resistant too! 30 metres, some will say don't swim with it, some will say they swim with it regularly without a hiccup. Personally I haven't swam with it, but known the trend of over-engineering that you get in the Japanese watch industry, I wouldn't be too worried. My Casio F-91W has survived a lot of salt-water swimming. The watch keeps time very well, the lume is damn bright with little charge needed and it'll wind itself throughout the day. The stonewashed appearance of the metal is decent, with a bit of polished chrome visible where the strap meets the watch breaking the overall aesthetic, but hey, who's going to see that? Seriously? The strap that this watch comes with is okay. It's relatively comfortable, but I found it digs in a little at the end of the day. If you're looking at buying this watch, you will probably swap the strap out: Welcome to the world of watch collecting, featuring a very large strap collection! (If you don't already change your straps, try it! It's like getting a whole new watch for $20)One thing I will say: You need to read the manual. You MUST spend 30 seconds doing the "Seiko shuffle" when you first get this watch, that'll make sure it has enough of a wind on top of your daily walking to keep it going. Every now and then I give it a bit of a shuffle as I take it off before bed. It hasn't failed me yet! This is a great watch, hell at this price this is an excellent watch. It's a little smaller than modern trends dictate, which is neither here nor there. This is a great buy that won't let you down.
