Product description at fault - this is just the score
It is true that this is an excellent version of the score, clearly set out and well printed. But the product description refers also to 'introductory notes, photos and illustrations'. I would have welcomed detailed notes for such a complex score, What we get is a four-paragraph (about half a page) preface by Malcolm MacDonald (in three languages). There are no photographs and just one reproduction of Picasso's portrait of Stravinsky. In addition, the book is glued not stitched (as Dover large-format scores are), and I suspect it will begin to separate through 'flat-folded' use in time. Thus, though I have no quarrel with the quality of the reproduction of the score, I felt a little disappointed with this overall. The Dover version has more substantial notes, is well reproduced, sewn-bound and a little cheaper. It might be the one to go for.

20th Century Masterpiece at a reasonable price
This is a relatively cheap and clear score of this masterpiece of the 20th century. Unfortunately the book is not properly bound and it does not stay flat on the desk. Also, it would had been great if there was more space/larger page margins (it is a complex score and conductors need to mark the score in the margins). And the notes about the work at the beginning of the score are far too basic. There’s better information about this piece in some high school music books!

Access to the mechanics of how this piece of genius hit the world 100 years ago is priceless. If this book cost three times the price it would be a snip.It is a privilege to see how Stravinsky laid out this piece of wonderment. If you want to explore any further your own favorite performances of this masterpiece, this is your starting place!
