A highly recommended book!!
Having the joy of knowing Alice pinion before she published this book, I knew it would be a hit. I ordered it as soon as it came out and I'm so glad I did! Everything in the book makes so much sense and she makes techniques simplistic and easily understandable for anybody who is willing to have a go at EVERYTHING she suggests. The principles Alice talks about in the book are easy to apply to your sport, and after only a week I noticed the difference in how I approached my squash games. I am enjoying playing noticeable more than I was before. Whether you're really serious in your sport, or just want to simply improve your performance when competing and make it as good as your training then this book covers all of it. I highly recommend this brilliant book! From Hannah Gingell :)I purchased this book for my 16 year old daughter (above) who as you can see, thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from it. I then read the book myself and understood why. It is extremely easy to read, very practical and motivational. I highly recommend this book as a gift for anyone of any age who is committed to sport. They will enjoy and appreciate it!

Wow what a book! It is evident that Alice is incredibly knowledgeable within her field and highlights the significant role the mind plays for athletes of any kind. The techniques are easy to apply and the impact is huge. This book has enabled my son to acknowledge some of his negative thought patterns and turn these into positive thinking both when competing and training, permitting a greater outcome physically and mentally. Highly recommended!

Great guide to identifying and tackling those race day gremlins
I listened to the audio book during a training run and found it very useful. The breakdown/chapter layout was great. There's sufficient detail behind the thinking to explain the "why" with good, clear actions to follow.I was amused as I listened to one section talking about distractions while training to avoid concentrating on form etc - while I was listening to a book :)Great book I'll be buying the actual book as I'd like to have an easy-go-to reference on hand to dip into!

... of ultra events including three Ironman Triathlons a friend recommend that I should read Alice's book
Having completed a number of ultra events including three Ironman Triathlons a friend recommend that I should read Alice's book. It is easy to train our bodies to endure the hardship of an ultra event, but all too easy to forget that our minds also need to be conditioned. This book is a a great guide for anyone embarking on the long journey to compete at any level within a sport whether it be a 5K or a Super Sprint Triathlon up to an ultra marathon or Ironman Triathon. The mind can play some very nasty games before, during and even after each race and Alice's books gives many tools, techniques, and guidance or how to manage the mind.

Essential read
This really is as the title suggests, an Essential sporting Mind Toolkit. Unlike other sports mind coaching books I have read, this book is full of helpful information in an easy to follow and understand format. Having read through this book twice now, I am seeing great improvements in the weak areas of my sport (Motocross) just by following some of the simple rules layed out in this book. If you are looking for a sporting edge or feel something isn't quite right in your given sport I really cannot recommend this book enough.
