My dear patroness
Saint Germaine Cousin is my very dear holy patroness whom I have great affection for. So that in of itself is cause for me to give the book five stars. The author does a good job at speculating what isn't found in the history or accounts from that time, but also writing a bit about others around her and their perspectives. The tragic and difficult part for me is how cruel and harsh Germaine's life was merely because of her condition which was grossly misunderstood and subject to superstitious fears... its a bit of a penance to just read. For a girl who was so devote and charitable that she declined to defend or explain herself so frequently, even be maybe overly self-critical of herself, and how that mistreatment by virtually everyone from priests, her family, her step-family, her neighbors, to how they minimized her education and food, making her live outside in the harsh summers and winters... all of that must of contributed to her passing... which makes me think she was a martyr or at least a 'dry martyr' for humble and meek charity...

YOU WILL BE DEEPLY TOUCHED BY THIS BEAUTIFUL SAINT WHO DIED AT AGE 22
I CHOSE HER JUST WEEKS BEFORE MY CONFIRMATION AS MY SAINT, NEVER HAVING HEARD ABOUT HER. IT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME CRY WHEN i read about her. I had read a pamphlet about her only weeks before Confirmation and cried through the whole booklet. Then I JUST DISCOVERED THIS HARD BOUND BOOK ABOUT GERMAINE AND i cried again. She is French and lived near Toulouse , very sickly and treated abominably by her stepmother but never lost her sweetness and her charity to poor people in spite of her own hunger and dressed in rags. I LOVE HER!

Faith worth aspiring to
I really liked this book. I cried when she died (not a spoiler, the beginning of the book talks about finding her body years later so you know she will die at some point). Germaine's faith is something to aspire to. There were a few typos but otherwise, it was a great book.

Beautiful Tender and Inspiring Story of St. Germaine
Lovely, emotional, and inspiring story of sweet girl who became St Germaine. Hard to imagine life in Pibrac, France in 1579 and this wonderful story gives insight into life there.
