Great Book -- Be Warned!!!!!
I have not used this book yet. It seems well put together and the lessons I have reviewed seem well put together and logical. Here is the warning:There are A LOT of additional materials needed to use this book. It is not even close to being complete in and of itself. There are many "around the house" supplies you may or may not have like colored pencils, masking tape, coffee filters and timers which is to be expected but there are also a lot of other books and major supplies required. You need to also purchase:BOOKS:The Kingfisher Science EncyclopediaThe Usborne Internet-linked Science EncyclopediaEncyclopedia of Science, DK PublishingUsborne Illustrated Dictionary of ScienceUsborne Illustrated Dictionary of BiologyBiology for Every KidUncover a TarantulaUncover a FrogUncover a CobraOTHER MAJOR MATERIALS:Home Science Tools Home MicroscopeBotanical Discoveries KitOwl Pellet Dissection KitBlood Typing KitMicrosope Slide-Making KitPrepared Slides: Hydra budding, frog sperm, frog ovary, allium root tip showing mitosis, lilium showing meiosis, flower bud monocot, flower bud dicot, insect legs-4 types, fish scales-cycloid, muscle-3 types (striated, smooth, cardiac)While I expect a lot of this and it makes sense, I didn't know how much or how expensive some of this stuff was going to be. I wished somewhere in the notes it had mentioned the quantity of other supplies so I could have started a little earlier before school starts and searched out pricing to have a better idea what I am in for.Like with everything, some items are more important than others and you can get away with a good curriculum buying only a few of the 'extra' books but that will be up to you to decide which you need and can do without.

ClassiQuest Biology
This wasn't as much a comprehensive text but more so a series of guidelines with checkboxes for learning goals and concepts from other sources. I understand that this is a good way to teach students to research and learn independently, however I felt there wasn't enough meat to this text to justify the price. For example, in order to do a good portion of the labs in this text, you have to buy and refer to another lab manual (Biology for Every Kid). Plus it was a little too dry for my sixth grader. On a lesser note, I was surprised by the use of the terms "B.C.E. and C.E." instead of B.C. and A.D. in reference to time period.

worth every cent
Every year of the grammar stage I felt like I was recreating the wheel for science in order to stay faithful to the classical teaching model I use to homeschool my children. I was thrilled (and relieved) to find ClassiQuest when my kids entered the logic stage. It's everything I want in a science curriculum! It follows the WTM recommendations to the letter, it leaves lots of room for personal touches when it comes to areas of faith, it gives a great list of all supplies needed and where to get them, and pulls everything I could ever want together into one neat and user friendly format for every lesson. I love it and am so grateful for it. I'm desperately hoping chemistry is ready and out by next fall so we can use it. Seriously, if I were to pull together everything I wanted to accomplish for science for the year in my wildest homeschooling dreams - and I had the time to do so - it would look like what Angela DuBois has created. Its such a timesaver and so handy. It's exactly the way we like doing science. And as far as what some other reviewers have said regarding the other texts and supplies needed, the product is exactly what it says it is. If you read the early pages that you can see online, I believe you can see all the materials needed. I found them either free at my local library or reasonably priced online. This book is worth every cent.

Fantastic classical science curriculum for homeschool
I recently purchased ClassiQuest Science: Logic Stage Biology and I'm very impressed. It's well laid out, comprehensive, and all the organizing and scheduling is done for you so you can simply purchase the guide, obtain the books and materials, and you're on your way! As a former high school science teacher-turned-homeschooler, this is exactly what I've been wanting for my daughter's logic stage homeschool science programme - a curriculum with good science, independent reading, opportunities for report writing, lots of labs, and science history and memory work thrown in for good measure.Well done, Angela! Looking forward to the Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics Logic Stage books!

Great Resource for Any Age
After struggling with the 'boring' style of science, we were looking for something to keep along the lines of our classically geared curriculum and to be hands on experiments. This certainly has fit the bill. Our children enjoy the study and research portions of each lab along with preparing for the actual lab activity. I especially enjoy the list of needed items in the front of the book meaning we can start every lab with ALL necessary items obtained during the preparation during the week. Certainly recommend buying the kit from HomeScienceTools and microscope. We appreciate the quick feedback from the author when we had questions and look forward to her next release.
