It's so natural to place my thumb there and it really makes holding a full mug waaaay easier, especially since it holds a fair amount of liquid. I feel like I have complete control. Size: This is my favorite size of mug, personally. I like to drink a lot of liquid at a time because I'm so addicted to tea and coffee. A couple other things to note: it is microwave safe, I always heat up water in this mug in the microwave because I'm lazy and can't be bothered to put the kettle on. Also, it does come with a lid so you can take it on the go. I can't comment much about its practicality, as I don't take it on the go much and have barely used the lid.
