I will definitely re-read this one *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2015* This was one of my favorite books. I will definitely re-read this one. I read the reviews and I want to add some insight to the negative reviews. I believe the author did a wonderful job in trying to keep situations as realistic as possible without being totally offensive. As to the reviews that complained about the abuse and rape, in all honesty that was the way things were in that time. If anyone has any historical education, then you know that this book didn't even begin to touch down on what really went on. Woman were a possession, even if your husband did grow to love you. You still belong to him to do with as he pleased. So don't let the negative reviews offend you. Remember there was no "women's rights". The book is very entertaining. The range of emotions that you can feel from all the characters kept me engrossed. This is a must read in my opinion. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent read *by K***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2018* I loved reading this book about the Irish Viking connection and reading about Olaf the White who wanted a peaceful life of his own and found it with Erin the Irish Princess of Tara. But it came with a great many war battles and battles of their own. Heather Graham is a wonderful author. One of the things I loved about this book was the feeling and warmth of the people and family. I could feel the emotion from them. Aed the King I especially loved. What hard decisions he had to make for his beloved Ireland. His heart broke over the one decision to make peace for Ireland that took his favorite daughter from him. Olaf and Erin had a hard time with their pride. But they finally tell each other that they love each other. I love reading about the Vikings and Ireland. I am descended from both countries. Tongue in cheek: maybe I am descended from Olaf and Erin. She could not believe her father would do this.She hated all Viking due to the death and destruction of her homeland.She even had to be drugged for the marriage. This book was written about medieval times where women had no rights. Husbands could do what they wanted with their wives. Olaf was cruel to Erin at first. He hit her several times, called her names and pulled her behind his horse .She tried to kill him and he tied her hands to the bed..He had loved before and she was killed. He intended never to love again.He did do some good things one he was going to send his mistress away after Erin asked him to. He had not slept with her .I like Viking stories I know love does not come easy in them. If you can realize that this is how people loved back then and a HEA was in the picture. You will enjoy this book.
