No way they could be squeezed in there because of the lock, not without bending/distorting anyway. The films I needed to put in (22 films in a 1cm thick box) cannot be bent due to the box. I knew this before purchase based on others' reviews but had some plans. Fortunately the 22 films don't have patient names so it's not a HIPAA issue. The lock can be easily removed by drilling out the rivets.
