It will heat up better and maintain the proper temperature to keep sufficient heat radiating from it. I used Amazon because the glass that came with my unit was blue (22 pounds) and everything on our patio including our new fire pit, dining table and chairs are more of an earth tone color. I initially ordered 20 pounds and found out that I needed another 10 pound bag to fill the fire pit to a more desirable level.
