They beat the generic blue handled crimp tools and many of the ratcheting crimp tools. It took me some time to decide on the PA-20's but I wish I would have purchased them first over the other two tools that I tried out.The Engineer PA-20 is well built and seems like it will last a long time if used properly for its intended purpose. I like that the crimp tool has a plier-like nose so you can manually shape terminals to hold wires in before accomplishing the crimp. The 4 size options will cover most of my needs working with smaller automotive connectors. The die is shaped and sized accurately so that the terminals don't bend or get crushed when performing the crimp. I tend to use the size up for my initial crimp and then the exact size to finish off the crimp and I always achieve great results with that method. Overall, the Engineer PA-20 is a great precise tool that I will get lots of good use out of. I will be looking to their other selection of tools for future projects.Previously, I had purchased and used this linked ratcheting crimp tool. It made a complete mess of the terminals I was working with even though it was rated for 22 gauge wire and terminals. Also, the ratchet didn't release until you completed a full crimp which often times resulted in too much force being applied. They are so much better than ANYTHING I have used from the China suppliers. This feels solid, works well and does a very good job at crimping. I cant thank the EE that recommended these instead of the ratcheting crimpers for JST and Dupont connections enough. Sure you have to do two steps to crimp the insulation but its so much easier to crimp I dont mind the extra step. Just buy them and quit reading this review.I plan to add more of this brand of tools to my shop. They outperform everything else ive tried. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Japan Engineering PA-20 Connection Pliers *by on Reviewed in the United States June 29, 2016* Driven by the need to create 25 - 30 custom sized servo connections for a multi-rotor project back in late February, I bought (for $13.47), the ratchet style of crimping tool and went through more than 100 female dupont crimp pins and a meter of 3 strand 22ga servo wire, and couldn't successfully make 1 custom servo extension.Late in March I bought ($8.33), a very simple plier style with 3 different sized crimp stations, they are better, but still no joy.Today, late in June I received a pair of these Engineer PA-20 crimp pliers (for $36.80), and can honestly say they are a joy to work with. As soon as I had a chance to make some test connections, I made 6 crimps and the were all near PERFECT !Rather small in size, they fit my hands well. The lack of compound leverage isn't a problem and might only be an issue if used in a high volume production role.What can I say? If you want the best result at an affordable price, don't hesitate, this is the correct tool.I had been searching for JST crimp pliers and did learn the JST stands for "Japan Solderless Connector".It makes sense, if you solder the wire, with a little luck or practice, you can get a strong connection. The problem though is that the solder wicks past the strain relief tabs that encircle the wire and the insulation, making that point brittle inside the insulation.
