LASCO 14-1039 White Plastic Toilet Seat Hinge with Bolts and Nuts, Top Tightening, Fits Bemis Brand

I had to replace a couple of toilet hinges in my house, broken due to being old. This hinges set is very inexpensive and the right size for my toilet. In one of the two that I have replaced, the toilet cover keeps falling when I put it up. I solved that by leaving the cover of the back screws open (see the picture), and it is actually a problem of the holes in the toilet cover being misplaced (and not a problem of the hinges themselves).Overall, I am happy with the two sets of these hinges that I have bought, and if I need to replace them in another toilet seat, I will probably buy the same again.

The parts did fit a Bemis seat perfectly without drilling new holes. You need to be careful in matching the hasps for the seat and lid with one another on each hinge because they come apart quite easily. I may have I mixed them up after opening the package, and had to look at another toilet in the house to get the hasps properly matched. When matched the flat side of each hasp fits flush with the associated seat or lid, and provides the correct elevation above the porcelain. In my case the longer hasps were on the inner end of each hinge and fastened to the lid, and the shorter hasps were on the outer end of each hinge and fastened to the seat. My one disappointment is the hinges apparently are only available in white plastic and my toilet is beige.

These are made of the cheapest lightweight plastic you can imagine. The packaging they come in is literally more durable than the parts themselves. When I received them, I opened the package and inspected these things, saw how flimsy and brittle they are, and that they were the wrong size, even though they were advertised to fit the Bemis seat that I had. So I just tossed them directly in the trash without even bothering to try using them, went to Lowe's and got another whole toilet seat. Total waste of money and environmental resources.

Overall, very well constructed plastic parts and perfect replacement for the hinges of my Bemis toilet seat and cover.Would have appreciated a little note about not tightening all the screws before attaching the cover to the seat hinge., but figured that out belatedly and everything aligned and fit together perfectly.

9/26/20 Addendum to these hingesScrews are not stainless, thus they all have rusted. Beware when you purchase and replace screws with stainless. I now have rust all over the hinges where the cheap screws are.This hinge set worked pretty well in replacing the failed chrome hinge on my Bemis toilet seat. By "failed" I am referring to the cheap chroming that Bemis does. It lasted about a year. Also note how many times it took the Bemis folks to place the hinge correctly on the seat . Bemis is in need of some better quality control.

I searched for ages to find a good toilet seat that wasn't made of plastic. While the seat itself was great, the hinges left a lot to be desired and fell apart after three years of use. I had so much trouble finding the seat - which was still in great shape - that I decided to try replacement hinges instead of buying a new kit. There were a lot of negative reviews for this item, but it still seemed to be the best of my options.I was surprised at how sturdy the pieces seemed to be. I took note of the advice of one of the other reviewers and used the original screws, which I think worked out better than using the ones that were included.I've used these hinges for eight months now, and they still seem as sturdy as when I took them out of the package. I've been pleasantly surprised, considering some of the other reviews, and at this point feel that I've at least gotten my money's worth.
