Review: Finally, a Modern Glucometer - I've been using this for two years, and it is hands down the best glucometer I've ever used. No more poorly-designed, cheaply made, expensive, giant plastic gizmos with bad user interfaces that feel like they were designed 20 years ago. No more depending on insurance companies to tell me which overpriced strips they will pay for, then change their minds a year later. The iHealth glucometer is inexpensive, the strips are inexpensive (and can be shipped the same day to me if I get in a bind), and the iHealth app is very modern and well designed. I have desertcart send me recurring shipments of the strips and tweaking your deliveries is very easy. These days my Type 1 Diabetes management is all done on my phone. I use the My Fitness Pal app to count carbs, the iHealth app to test my blood sugars, and RapidCalc to do my insulin calculations. My A1C has literally never been this good. Switching to this glucometer and this process is the best thing I've ever done for my diabetes aside from the brief period I was able to afford a pump. I'm on my second iHealth glucometer (lost the first while traveling - yes they are small and cheap enough to travel with a backup!). In the two full years I've been using these, I have not experienced any of the inaccurate measurements that others have claimed here. I can't explain those reviews. I will say that with my old iPhone it was a little harder for the camera to read the QR code in darker rooms, but haven't had any problems with my iPhone 7. I keep the app on my wife's phone in case something happens to mine. I encourage every diabetic I know to look into this. Take control of your health and your money.
Review: iPhone APP update - won't take a reading - I converted to this device from a competing device because of it's small size and the "convenience" of avoiding manual data entry into my iPhone. After 2 months of use I had mixed results, followed by a recent deal breaker. Observations: The Good: - This device is amazingly small. - The price is very affordable at the time I purchased it (I bought two, see below) - I set up an desertcart "subscription" order for testing strips, which is a nice convenience. The Not As Good: - This device reads high compared to my other devices. After purchasing a second unit which reads a littler lower, I proceeded with only using the iHealth device. (I assume the device is within +/- accuracy requirements, so I'm not accusing the device of not being "accurate." It just seemed to me to be biased in the + direction. This is a subjective observation.) - The "convenience" of use is impacted by needing to use a 3.5mm plug to Apple lightening connector. And the order of plugging them in seems to be important, but I learned to live with it. This is the first "ding" on convenience. - The software does not have an "A1C" estimator included. So I manually enter each reading into my other iPhone app which does have an A1C Estimation feature. This is the "second" ding on convenience. The Deal Breaker: - On going to take a measurement, the iPhone app suddenly needed sign-on credentials. Nothing I did seemed to work. I went to a computer browser to open an account online. Using those credentials in the app produced a vague system error message. - I had to go find my previous device and use it. Fortunately I had a few testing strips. - I submitted an online support request. The email response says they received it. It has been less than a day, so I decided to call the support number in the email before submitting this review. The phone number informed me that due to COVID-19, while everyone is working from home, nonetheless, they are not taking phone calls, only online support tickets or email. Conclusion: - I can't recommend this device. - I can't recommend this company. - I've cancelled my subscription for testing strips. K

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ She is in high school and is for lack of better terms embarrassed to have to constantly test in front ...
*by A***R on February 15, 2016*

I have a 15 year old daughter that was diagnosed with Type 1 about a year ago. She is in high school and is for lack of better terms embarrassed to have to constantly test in front of her peers. I bought her the iHealth BG1 Align Glucose-Monitoring System because it’s small and connects directly into her iphone! She never goes anywhere without her phone, so now she also has no reason to not test. ;) I love that it records her results on a very easy to use app. From the app she now has the ability to export her results into excel spreadsheets to share with her doctor. There was only one thing we didn’t like about the meter, and it was the lancing device that came with it. My daughter is highly receptive to pain and was constantly being bruised by lancing and it made daily activities difficult for her. We saw an ad for a Genteel in DiabetesHealth and it claimed to be pain-free. It came with a 120 day money back guarantee so I figured I couldn’t lose anything. She felt not even a single poke and loved that it came with stickers so she could decorate it! Now she’s found the perfect meter and the perfect poker and her outlook on living with diabetes has changed for the better! :)
