If you can afford it, pick this. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective, once you get placement exactly right *by Y***L on 16 May 2021* This is a well engineered piece of kit, though not cheap, you do feel you are getting something that is very well made. However, setting it up is not easy, this may be in part determined by the turntable you are fitting it to of course, but there is only a small area between the tonearm plinth and the edge of the turntable platter that this can fit in to. In order to align it accurately you have to have a record on the turntable, and although the instructions tell you to put the stylus cover on, in order to actually test that it is triggered and lifts the tonearm at the right point you need to play the last track of a record or three. Worth noting that you should try to find one or more LPs where the runout groove is quite narrow, i.e. where the last track finishes quite close to the label, if you use one with a wider runout groove to setup, when you later come to play a record with a narrow runout the tonearm will lift too soon, whilst the last track is still playing! The other problem is that you need to work out the position (and the height, though that is easy enough to adjust once the lift is in the right place) then stick the base of the post to the surface of the turntable, to do this they provide pre-cut double-sided tape, but you still have to lift the base of the 'raiser post' from the perfect position you have found for it in order to remove the covering from the tape, which effectively means it is very hard to get it back in exactly the same spot - we're talking factions of millimetres here, it has to be very precise indeed to be triggered at the right point. And the trigger arm flexes a little as the tonearm reaches it, there is a tiny amount of give, a few grooves of music before the trigger actually causes the lifting mechanism to release and raise the tonearm, so that is another factor to consider while setting it up. I found after discovering how hard it was to get back in exactly the spot you had previously identified as "perfect", and having to unstick it and replace the tape - they do at least provide a few spare pieces - that the easiest way was to position it, lift is as little as possible, remove the covering from the tape, but then just let it rest very lightly back onto the record player surface, so the adhesive barely stuck - then I tested the tonearm position again and made micro-adjustments each time, until it was lifting at exactly the right point, and only then did I press the post firmly down, so that the double-sided tape engaged fully.
