They are light weight but visually don't look look that way. Shades are nice quality which is pleasantly surprising considering a decent lamp shade runs about the price of both of these lamps with shades. My only complaint is that one lamps sits a little crooked but probably nothing anyone else would notice , its just my OCD tendencies.. Haha.. Overall very nice, especially for the price. I still have only about 25 dollars into it so that works for me. The base is very nice and looks expensive. It is resin but looks like metal. I found it to be very convincing. The height was just right next to my recliner for reading, doing crosswords or word search puzzles. Simple assembly too. Just pull the cord through screw on the top, attach the harp, shade and finial and your all set. Easy peasy! Very happy I went with my gut instinct and didn't listen to the negative reviews.
