It's plastic that screws onto a metal post, so I didn't want to push it on the tightenting in case the plastic splits. It had flexible give when on the bike. The material cover is a soft faux leather.There's a lip on the "computer" piece where you can place a book, magazine or phone.So far, it's a good ride. The tension control shifts are noticable from 1-8.It's a simple bike that falls on the sturdier side.
