I use this wire to make hooks for ornaments and fire them to cone 6. **Q: Does this contain nickel?** A: No the Kanthal wire does not. Kanthal is a trade name for FeCrAl which is the alloy consisting of Iron (Fe), Chromium (Cr), and Aluminum (Al). So Nickel free. I have severe nickel allergies and have done the research and order this particular brand regularly. If that is why you are asking buy with confidence. **Q: Can this wire be used to heat a furnace?** A: I cannot answer that question. I CAN tell you that I heat it in glass fusing projects in temps as high as 1400 degrees.
