Although the description uses the word matte for a descriptor, the finish was shiny as pictured. I can't imagine that the "mirror finished" competitors would be any different. The knife, dinner fork, and tablespoon are substantially heavy. Salad/desert fork is lighter duty. We hand washed the set and they were as good as new when we packed them away for next year's Halloween season. Out of the box, it all looked perfect. After the first washing in the dishwasher, a spoon had a long line of missing black color like it had been scratched. The finish was damaged. Then, after a few months of use, several of the butter knives started losing their black finish. On several more pieces, it looks like the finish is rubbing off. I am looking to replace the set and I've only had it 10 months. Maybe I got a bad batch (or 2) but I will stay away from this brand. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Unimpressed, chipped easily. I have had them less than a week and there is a large bit of stainless steel showing in parts due to cutting something with the knife and hitting the fork. I found a set tab target that we loved but didn’t want to spend the extra money. I May return and get the better quality ones.
