I have been using the Duracell copper clad alkaline batteries and the Duracell Quantum AAA Alkaline Batteries. Both are long lasting, All-Purpose AAA batteries for use in the Standard Horizon HX890 handheld marine radio. I have not seen much of a difference between battery types. **Q: I already have a matrix gx3000s in my boat with my mmsi in it, do i still need to put my mmsi into my new hx890 ?** A: If you plan on using it on the boat it is a good idea to put the mmsi into the radio.
