The ONLY time spending money on one of these is "worth it" is if there are no other options, in my opinion. Who am I to say so? I have played flute(s) for 46 years in marching bands; concert bands; orchestras; as a soloist & in ensembles; for festivals, weddings, and other events. I was chosen for a prestigious youth symphony, a nationally known marching band, and hired by a pro symphony orchestra at age 20. I have played Artley, Bundy, De Ford, Emerson, Selmer, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Pearl, Azumi, Yamaha, Muramatsu, Powell and Haynes flutes, in addition to nearly all of the recent Chinese imported brands like Sky, Glory, Mendini, etc. I have also played Artley, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, and Yamaha piccolos (and tried the imports, too). I've taught flute lessons for over 30 years, and I've worked with flute techs, ad by myself, on almost every instrument brand over the last decade. The BIGGEST PROBLEM with cheap,imported flutes is that that are not fixable. Many techs will not work on them. The metal is soft/poor quality. They bend easily and the springs, keys and tome holes do not last. The companies do not stand behind them. (Try returning one for warranty work.) You MIGHT have time to learn the fingering for notes before your flute expires, or if you are exceptional, your instrument may last longer. You are, in my EXPERT opinion, far better off to spend a bit more and get even a USED Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, Emerson, Artley, etc. than to buy one of these. Silver, even plate, sounds MUCH different than "cupronickel metal" colored silver (or something else). A beginner won't hear it. A musician will. **Q: What’s the difference between $1000 and this one?** A: This flute is made from junk metal, cannot be repaired, isn’t in tune, cannot be sold if your kid stops playing and has closed holes. A $1000 flute is a professional instrument. **Q: I wonder if the resonance (sound) is metal or plastic** A: This Glory Flute is amazing for the price. Better than many double or triple the price. Nice mellow sounds. The flute is all metal and very polished. **Q: after how many time can the color came off or scratch?** A: I bought the white flute. After owning it about 3 months, there is some of the white paint flecking off at the headjoint (mouthpiece) where it slides into the top of the flute and there is one other tiny spot about the size of the period at the end of this sentence on the headjoint where the paint has chipped. The rest of the flute looks new. It would not take very much pressure to chip off more. Verdict: Paint looks good but not durable. May be better off with a metal coating instead of a painted one. I tried it out and it plays in tune, has a great tone, and looks beautiful. I was surprised by the quality of the flute for the price. This is not the cheap-o quality flute here. It comes with the cleaning kit which is exactly what every flute and flute student needs, the case is decent and it comes with a shoulder strap too. I purchased this flute from this seller for $69.99 in May 2015, the price has gone up a little bit since then. Considering it is a flute under $100 it is a fantastic deal. If you are looking at this flute - you'll see that it has an offset G and a C foot. This means that the Key named G for the left hand ring finger is a little distance away from the flute instead of inline with the rest of the keys. This is a BONUS feature, as the inline G is tough to reach especially for beginners. I have the offset on all my flutes both Intermediate, and Professional. This is a nice extra bonus for this student flute. The other feature of this flute is the C foot. There are only 2 options here, either a B foot or a C foot. C foot is standard on student flutes. It basically means that the lowest note this flute will play is low C, aka middle C on a piano. This is an appropriate choice when you consider the music that the beginner flutist will learn for the first 3-4 years of playing will not go any lower than this C. The B foot makes it possible to play the low B, one note below C, aka one note below middle C on the piano. The low B note is commonly found in more Advanced levels of music. I know other professional flutists that still have opted to keep the C foot, and not use the B foot. I don't know how long it will stand up to a beginner flutist's tendencies to be rough (dropping, banging it into a music stand), but honestly for the price it is far better than renting, and better than a school-rented instrument.
